In a sad turn of events, a husband who surprised his wife with a pregnancy announcement — using a shrewd method, mind you — has some sobering news: His beloved spouse suffered a miscarriage days later.
Perhaps, you’re among the nearly 12 million YouTube viewers who tuned in as Sam shared the news that his wife, Nia, was with child. But here’s the catch: she learned about the baby news from her husband, according to an August 10 Orlando Sentinel report.

Sam’s wife recently said she missed her monthly period, but she wasn’t sure it signaled a pregnancy. Nia’s husband hatched a novel idea: to be the first (perhaps) husband to learn his wife is pregnant before she gets the amazing news.
He knew her pattern at night: when she has to tinkle, she never flushes the toilet; she doesn’t want to wake the kids. Sam lucked out and used a pregnancy test to sample Nia’s urine. While filming the moment for YouTube fans, he got a positive result. And when he surprised Nia with the news, it was priceless.
Sadly, the moment was short-lived; Nia and Same suffered a miscarriage days later. On Saturday, the popular YouTube stars shared the sobering news with their subscribers.
“I told Nia, God’s ready to use us in a huge way.”
Nia chimed in to speak. She fought back tears but braved her way through the message to promote support and awareness.
“We were so overjoyed… and it hit us just like a bomb. Those of you who have experienced a miscarriage before… I… I can relate now. I have felt my womb empty out. I never ever, ever knew that women felt that way. I stood up and I felt empty.”
According to their Facebook page, the amazing couple is self-described Christians. They also are high school sweethearts with two children. They chronicle their lives with daily videos and share tips about marriage, family, and parenting.
Despite their immeasurable loss, the YouTube stars made a passionate plea for others not to suffer in silence.
“The emptiness and heartache that comes with a miscarriage came as a total shock, and we are coping with this, but wanted to include you. There is a stigma regarding miscarriage that says we need to be alone in it and keep it private, but what happened is nothing less than losing a baby. The hurt and pain is real. It’s something that needs to be talked about and something that requires support from friends and family. If you would like to talk with me regarding miscarriage email me at email@example.com…but, please keep these emails strictly about the topic due to the sensitivity of it all and how raw my heart is at the moment.”
Many blessings to you Nia and Sam.
