Being a woman is hard. We’re expected to work full time, take care of the home, fill the roles of mother, wife, employee, sister, girlfriend…the list goes on. We do it, too. Like, successfully. We pretty much run this joint, and we look good doing it. We can drink a cup of coffee and vacuum while mentally planning out the day ahead, with a toddler at our feet asking a string of questions, none of which ever make a lick of sense. “How come it’s Tuesday and Friday and there wasn’t a dinosaur when we went to the beach?” Wrap your brain around that one, then try to answer it in a manner that won’t bring on a laundry list of why’s. Warning: DO NOT try to ignore it.
When it comes to beauty, we ain’t always got time for all that, and that’s fine. I love no makeup days. Honestly though, I feel so much better when I leave my house feeling more Blake Lively (I will one day figure out how to actually steal her hair, kind of like a Face Off thing, unfortunately for her, we’re just going to switch) and less 90’s Kate Moss. The key to this is a five minute face. Learn it, study it, master it. Top it off with mascara.
You need a quality face cleanser. Throw out your Clean & Clear. You’re going to work, not gym class. Try these instead: B.F.F. (Best Face Forever) by Perfectly Posh gently exfoliates, removes toxins and leaves you with fresh, clean skin. If you’re feeling fancy, get your hands on The Microdelivery Exfoliating Wash by Philosophy.
You need an incredible moisturizer. Moisture is the lifeline of your skin. Moisturize 911 Caffeinated Face Cream by Perfectly Posh will brighten, tighten and kick your skin into high gear with a dose of caffeine while delivering crazy amounts of moisture. Burt’s Bees Beeswax Moisturizing Day Cream is a gentle, delicious and creamy moisturizer with an incredible scent.
You need a primer/pore reducer so you can appear airbrushed without all the lies. Porefessional Face Primer by Benefit is my all time favorite, however I encourage frugal, so save some cash and get the Hard Candy version. I personally prefer that you shrink your pores at night instead, and skip the primer altogether. Use I’m Shrinking! Pore Reducing Spot Treatment Mask by Perfectly Posh (huge fan of this company). Apply at night before you moisturize and wake up with teeny tiny pores.
You need a decent BB (beauty balm) cream. Foundation is great, but BB cream lets your skin breathe and will clog less of your newly shrunken pores. Try Flower Beauty Balm BB Cream if you’re looking to save some cash, but Younique packs a serious airbrush punch with their BB Flawless Complexion Enhancer. I will say that in this category, you get what you pay for.
Finally, finish it off with a setting powder or, my personal addiction…bronzer. Physicians Formula Youthful Wear Youth Boosting Mattifying Face Powder is a fine line-filling steal with a super long name. Add some fresh summer color with Ulta Brand Baked Bronzer. I love baked bronzer because you can wet your brush and darken it. Super versatile. Anway, Flower Glow Baby Glow Blush and Bronzer duo is another incredible option. This Drew Barrymore inspired set comes in four beautiful colors and is available only at Walmart.
You can’t go wrong with these simple steps, or any of these products. Drink lots of water and rest easy knowing that none of these companies test on animals. Go get ’em, girls.
