With just three weeks before the WWE’s next pay per view, Tables, Ladders and Chairs, the promotion wasted little time setting up drama in every title division, as well as ensuring Roman Reigns a rematch for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
While some of the matches were filler, it was nice to see Neville get a big win over Mark Henry, as well as the continued development of Sasha Banks, Jack Swagger and Stardust (on the mic). More a building block than a foundational piece, this episode of RAW was an entertaining one, even if it lacked some real punch.
The Dudley Boys: Bubba Ray and Devon Dudley vs. Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper w/Braun Strowman and Erick Rowan: Harper got the win with the Discus Lariat following a distraction from Strowman in an overall average match. After the match, Rowan planted Devon with a Full Nelson Slam, while Strowman locked Bubba Ray in his Bearhug before Wyatt finished him off with the Sister Abigail.
Sasha Banks w/Naomi and Tamina Snuka vs. Becky Lynch: Interference from Snuka and Naomi allowed Banks to stay in the match and avoid losing via submission once Lynch latched on the Disarmer. Soon enough Banks got the win with a grab of the tights and a Rollup.
Mark Henry vs. Adrian Neville: After an Enzigieri, Neville got the surprising win with the Red Arrow.
The Prime Time Players: Darren Young and Titus O’Neil and Goldust vs. Stardust and The Ascension: Viktor and Konnor: Plenty of back and forth in a fast-paced match that saw O’Neil get the win with the Clash of the Titus on Konnor after Goldust and Young took out Viktor and Stardust.
Divas Champion Charlotte Flair vs. Paige: This was the best match on RAW up until this point, with plenty of action and offense from both competitors. Flair was the aggressor early on with signature strikes and submissions, but Paige fought back with a variety of submissions and vicious kicks. However, the match eventually ended in a double-count-out, but Paige sent a message after latching in the PTO on the announce table.
Heath Slater vs. Ryback: Not really a match, but Ryback got the “win” with the Meathook Clothesline and Shellshocked despite taking a guitar shot from Slater.
Dolph Ziggler and Dean Ambrose vs. Intercontinental Champion Kevin Owens vs. Tyler Breeze w/Summer Rae: Ambrose got the win with the Dirty Deeds on Breeze as Owens refused to get in the match on several different occasions.
Roman Reigns vs. Rusev w/WWE World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus: These guys beat on each other in an even encounter, but Reigns was able to escape the clutches of the Accolade and nearly win with the Superman Punch. Rusev fought back with a Super Kick on the outside, but Reigns hit another Superman Punch and a Basement Dropkick before Wade Barrett hit the ring to get the match thrown out. Reigns then used the chair and took out Barrett, Rusev and Sheamus to end the show.
