If you thought this week’s RAW was going to be entertaining following the events of Hell in a Cell, think again. With barely any storyline development and a slew of meaningless matches, the only thing that happened that was relevant was the crowning of a new #1 contender and Tyler Breeze’s RAW debut.
WWE Tag Team Champion Kofi Kingston w/Big E. Langston vs. Roman Reigns: This match took entirely too long, especially considering the fact that everyone knew Reigns was going to win. Although Kingston worked hard as usual, this was something that could have been done in eight minutes and not 15. After all the heel tactics and pandering, Reigns took out Langston with a Superman Punch and got the win with the Spear on Kingston.
Intercontinental Champion Kevin Owens vs. Cesaro: The Swiss Superman did all of the heavy-lifting, hitting Owens with a myriad of Elbow combinations, Suplexes and High-Flying maneuvers. But after an aptly-placed Super Kick, Owens hit the Pop-Up Powerbomb for the win.
Divas Champion Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch and Paige vs. Alicia Foxx, Nikki Bella and Brie Bella: A fast-paced and plenty of offense fueled a solid Divas match. After Nikki took out Paige from the apron, she beat Lynch with the Rack Attack. After the match, Paige hit both Becky and Flair with the Ram-Paige and then locked in the PTO on the Divas Champion.
Neville vs. United States Champion Alberto Del Rio w/Zeb Colter: Another match that dragged as Neville hit his share of moves in a match that no one expected him to win. Del Rio ended up with the crazy win with the Stomp variation.
Ryback and The Dudley Boys: Bully Ray and Devon vs. Wade Barrett, Sheamus and Rusev: Another lengthy match with no real storyline implications. While Ryback and Devon were distracted getting tables to put Barrett through, Bully Ray was Rolled Up by Bad News.
WWE Tag Team Champion Big E. Langston w/Kofi Kingston vs. Dolph Ziggler: With Tyler Breeze and Summer Rae inside, it was obvious Ziggler’s attention was elsewhere. Langston was in control for a time and got help from Kingston, but Ziggler was never out of the match, After he threw Langston into the turnbuckle, Ziggler nailed the Zig-Zag for the win.
Fatal Four-Way for #1 Contender Spot: Roman Reigns vs. Intercontinental Champion Kevin Owens vs. United States Champion Alberto Del Rio vs. Dolph Ziggler: Del Rio and Owens decimated Reigns and Ziggler until they ultimately turned on each other. Things got spicy after Reigns nearly won with a Spear. Soon enough, Ziggler almost won with a Spike DDT before Reigns countered with a Sit-out Powerbomb and the Superman Punch. Things broke down further as Ziggler then almost beat Del Rio with the Fame-Asser. Soon enough, things broke down further as Owens dominated, but Reigns countered a Pop-Up Powerbomb into the Superman Punch and then Speared Owens for the win.
