These are some dark times.
You can’t like the lack of drama in all the major singles title divisions and the absence of a clear challenger to the Tag Team titles doesn’t help RAW either, but with an appearance from Tommy Dreamer, as well as some well-placed promo from Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, something big is bound to happen at TLC.
The show can’t be this boring anymore. Something has to be done. Sheamus’ run as WWE World Heavyweight Champion will be a transitional one and one that id needed to ensure that Reigns can play hunter before he becomes the hunted. At the same time, there’s no tangible proof that Reigns can be the champion that the WWE needs right now either.
The end result is a whole lot of flux. With no Cesaro, Cena, Rollins or Orton, the WWE is forced to go with a youth movement. While the in-ring talent is there, the writing is so weak that it’s almost impossible to get behind the product.
The League of Nations isn’t going to be even a short-term solution.
Tyler Breeze w/Summer Rae vs. Dolph Ziggler: A wild and energetic opener that the fans in Steeltown didn’t appreciate. Breeze hit Ziggler with a variety of kicks and a Backcracker, but couldn’t put Ziggler away. After a series of Rollups and School Boys, however, Ziggler got the win with a Super Kick out of nowhere.
Ryback vs. Rusev w/Lana: Ryback got the win via count-out after Lana was hurt by the ring steps and Rusev “tended” to her.
The Dudley Boys: Devon and Bubba Ray Dudley and Tommy Dreamer vs. Braun Stowman, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan w/Bray Wyatt: Dreamer sold a ton and Bubba Ray hit the Urinage Suplex to give his team the advantage before the referee stopped the match due to the chaos that ensued. After the bell, Strowman choked out Dreamer, but Bubba Ray pushed Wyatt through a table, which allowed the Dudleys and the ECW icon to escape.
United States Champion Alberto Del Rio w/Zeb Colter vs. Goldust: Del Rio didn’t have it so easy as Goldust hit the Sidewalk Slam and a Powerslam early. However, one slip up and Del Rio hit the modified Top Rope Stomp for the win. After the match, Del Rio latched on the Cross-Arm Breaker before Jack Swagger hit the ring and made the save.
The Lucha Dragons: Sin Cara and Kalisto vs. Jimmy and Jey Uso: There was some decent back and forth action until The New Day jumped in and got the match thrown out.
Brie Bella w/Alicia Fox vs. Sasha Banks w/Naomi and Tamina Snuka: After Stuka took out Fox with a Super Kick on the outside, Bella was left alone.
WWE World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus vs. Roman Reigns: Sheamus was able to get some help from his new stablemates and ensure that Reigns didn’t get the win in 5:15.
Divas Champion Charlotte Flair w/Ric Flair vs. Becky Lynch: After faking an injury, Flair got the win with a Rollup on her friend.
WWE World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus, United States Champion Alberto Del Rio, Wade Barrett, WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day: Big E. Langston, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods and Rusev vs. Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, Jimmy and Jey Uso: A slow, plodding match where all eleven competitors got involved before Sheamus got the win with the Brogue Kick on Ambrose.
