Tonight, Sunday, September 20, 2015, WWE presented the eighth annual Night of Champions pay per view. Night of Champions was originally a subtitle for the July 2007 Vengeance pay per view before branching off into its own standalone pay per view in 2008. The show was held inside The Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. Here are the results.
In the Kickoff pre-show match, Stardust and The Ascenscion (Konnor & Viktor) beat Neville and The Lucha Dragons (Sin Cara & Kalisto). Stardust pinned Neville after hitting The Queen’s Crossbow.
The show opened with a video package highlighting tonight’s events, particularly Seth Rollins’ dual Title defenses.
In the opening match of the pay per view, Kevin Owens pinned WWE Intercontinental Champion Ryback to win the Championship. Ryback put Owens up for the Shell Shocked up Owen raked his eyes and rolled him up for the pinfall.
Dolph Ziggler beat Rusev (with Summer Rae). At the end of the match, Summer Rae climbed up to the apron, causing a distraction. Summer ended up tumbling into the ring and the referee ended up ejecting her from ringside. In frustration, Summer threw her shoe, but it hit Rusev. The distraction allowed Ziggler to hit the Zig Zag for the pinfall.
Bubba Ray & D-Von Dudley beat WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day (Big E & Kofi Kingston) (with Xavier Woods) via disqaulification when Woods interfered and broke up a pinfall count on Kingston. Post-match, The Dudley Boyz put Xavier Woods through a table with a 3-D.
Charlotte (with Paige & Becky Lynch) beat WWE Divas Champion (Nikki Bella) with Brie Bella & Alicia Fox to win the Championship. Charlotte made Nikki tap out to the Figure Eight. Post-match, Ric Flair celebrated the victory with his daughter Charlotte.
The Wyatt Family (Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper & Braun Strowman) beat Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and mystery partner Chris Jericho in a six-man tag team match. Jericho tagged into the match while Reigns was on the offense. But was caught by Strowman in the over-the-shoulder flip facebuster and then made to pass out in the standing head and arm bear hug. Post-match, Jericho blew off his tag team partners and walked out alone.
John Cena pinned WWE United States Champion Seth Rollins after hitting an Attitude Adjustment to win the Championship. Post-match, Rollins took his WWE World Heavyweight Championship and tried to leave the arena, but Cena hit him with an Attitude Adjustment on the ramp to stop him. Cena then threw Rollins back in the ring.
In the night’s main event, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins beat Sting to retain the Championship. Rollins went for a Pedigree but Sting countered it into a Scorpion Deathlock. Rollins then countered that and rolled him for the pinfall. Post-match, Sheamus ran to the ring to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase. He hit Rollins with a Brogue Kick but efore he officially cash in, a masked Kane came to the ring and chokeslammed Rollins. Sheamus then egged Kane on to do it again but received a chokeslam of his own.
