Three exceptional Bellbrook High School wrestlers were recognized during the last Sugarcreek Township Trustees meeting and praised for their outstanding accomplishments. Cameron Kelly, Benjamin Schram and Tyler Wiederholt joined together by representatives of the township to accept a resolution honoring their accomplishments as great athletes and for their dedication, commitment and determination and helping set an example for other wrestlers for years to come, not just in Bellbrook and Sugarcreek but nationwide.
As a team, the Bellbrook wrestling team finished 4th in the State with the help of some great coaching by Bob Kosins, Ron Weiderholt, Don Tharpe and Jason Cook, whom were also named by the Greater Miami Valley Wrestling Association as the 2015 Coaches of the Year for their mentorship, dedication and commitment to the team.
“All three of you should be proud of your commitment because those of you that haven’t wrestled, it is a grueling, grueling sport,” Sugarcreek Township Trustee, Michael Pittman said. “These three men are a great force for our community.”
Cameron Kelly, a Bellbrook High School senior, is a two-time Ohio High School Division II State Champion. He earned the recognition in 2012 and 2015. He was also an Ironman Champion and an MVP in 2015. He was also 3 times 1st Team All-Area. Kelly has accepted an offer to wrestle and attend Ohio University beginning the fall semester.
Benjamin Schram, is also a Bellbrook senior, and is a 2015 Ohio High School Division II Championship Semi-finalist and is a four-time NHSCA National Champion (only the 5th wrestler in the country to do so), Ohio High School Division 2nd and 3rd Place in 2013 and 2014. He was achieved most wins in the history, and 1st Team All-Area. Schram has also moved onto college as he has accepted and signed to wrestle at Old Dominion beginning the fall semester.
Tyler Wiederholt, is a Bellbrook High School junior, and is a 2015 Ohio High School Division II Championship Semi-finalist. In 2014 he also achieved a 1st Team All-Conference and 2nd Team All-Area in 2014 and 1st Team All-State in 2014.
“We have to recognize the coaches as well. All great athletes need great coaches to bring their talent out,” Sugarcreek Township Trustee, Scott Bryant said. “It’s a great support system that is needed between the coaches, parents and even friends. It’s a lot of hard work and the athletes need to stay motivated.”
