Here’s a suggestion for a fun, family-oriented weekend getaway that will let you get a jump on your Christmas shopping with the chance to purchase one-of-a-kind handcrafted gifts. Just plan a visit to the Appalachian Mountain Christmas event in Winchester, Ohio on Friday, November 20, Saturday, November 21 and Sunday, November 22.
Taking place on the grounds of the Hilltop Designs/GoodSeed Nursery & Garden Center, the 3-day Appalachian Mountain Christmas event will feature more than 40 of Southern Ohio’s top artists, crafters and artisans offering their unique merchandise for sale. Craftspeople include Bee Charmer Honey, Locust Hill Farm, Betty’s Sew Creative, Faded Memories, Touchstone Crystal and Buckeye Confections. Other items for sale include jewelry, Alpaca products, wind chimes, dolls, wooden toys, soaps, Christmas ornaments and decorations and lighthouse creations made from gourds, just to name a few.
A ‘must-see” attraction at this year’s Appalachian Mountain Christmas event is Jim Gorman’s Toy Tractor and Farm display with a mini regular working farm complete with tractors, a big red barn, animals, machinery and even a field of corn. Also, be sure to catch some of this year’s free demonstrations including the spinning wheel, how to make a pizza casserole and the proper taking of tea.
Santa Claus will be making an appearance at the event on Saturday from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. followed by a Christmas Princess Tea Party from 3 p.m. – 4 p.m. The little princesses in your life should come dressed in party attire. Cost of the Christmas Princess Tea Party is $10 and includes the tea and dessert plus a choice of a tiara or hat, wand, gift bag or make up. Call 937-695-5545 to make reservations for the Tea. Free live musical entertainment at the Appalachian Mountain Christmas event will be provided by the Payne Family and by singer-songwriter Steve Free. Food will be available for purchase including items like hot dogs, sandwiches, pasta, fruit salad and hot pretzels and various beverages.
Hours for the Appalachian Mountain Christmas event are 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is free. Parking is free.
