It has been well-documented by many of us within the games media how impressive of a game The Witcher 3 turned out to be. We’re just into June and people are already tossing around Game of the Year mentions, but before a victory lap is taken too early, it’s best to see what Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited has to offer.
A week from tomorrow, Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited is launching on PS4 and Xbox One, so there will be an even more massive experience for fans to jump into. The game launched last year for PC and MAC, and now console players will have a chance to see what all Elder Scrolls Online has to offer.
These two games are obviously very different experiences and that’s clear when you look at them from afar or close up. The Witcher 3 is more about experiencing a story with that ability to make an impact through choices and actions. Elder Scrolls Online provides people with the opportunity to customize and create their own hero to take on the many stories lying within Tamriel, alone or with friends.
The Witcher 3 has been a wonderful game to become immersed in and it will continue to be that for months to come. Now is the time for people to move on and jump into the world of Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited and here’s why we’re excited about that.

Playing with friends
The Witcher 3 put you in the role of Geralt, a witcher from Rivia, and it was through this character that players were able to express themselves. Through avenues like choice and action, people shaped the world around them, but they were only able to do so alone.
When you are playing through such a massive world, sometimes things can get a bit lonely and that is why were are extremely excited for Elder Scrolls Online. This game provides people with the choice to play alone, play alongside friends or even against them.
As players in the Elder Scrolls Online progress through the massive world of Tamriel, being able to utilize another friend’s unique character and abilities will help you conquer enemy after enemy. Seeing the interesting nuances that lie within this world helps generate that unique element of bonding.
Finally, for those Elder Scrolls Online players that have built up a bitter rivalry with another player, there is always PvP action to help settle any score that exists. Elder Scrolls Online releases on PS4 and Xbox One on June 9 and it’ll be great to be able to play alongside friends once more.
Endings don’t send you into a bout of depression
If you’ve been enjoying The Witcher 3 as much as we have, then you’ll undoubtedly understand what we’re about to talk about. Endings in The Witcher 3 are about as cheery as the roll call office for people who are waiting to see if they have to do jury duty or not.
The Witcher 3 is a magnificent game in the attachment and feelings you have for the things that happen, but man, there’s a lot of bad that happens in the game. The grim and dim can weigh a bit heavy on one’s spirit, which is why we’re excited for Elder Scrolls Online.
There are happy and pleasant endings to some of the stories in Elder Scrolls Online. It’ll be an optimistic breath of fresh air to jump into a game that contains a bit more joy than despair.
Elder Scrolls Online distinguishes itself by allowing for hope, whereas there’s no such thing as a positive outcome in The Witcher 3. It’s going to be nice to ride through a village without being confronted by people spitting on us or old ladies weeping openly in the streets. Come June 9, it’ll be great to smile and hope for a change of pace.
Creating your own character
The Witcher 3 starred Geralt of Rivia, who carried out one of the most compelling adventures we’ve seen this year. While he can take out hordes of enemies and banter with the best of them, he isn’t someone you can change or evolve, he just is.
In Elder Scrolls Online, the character you will play as is someone you will carefully choose. One you have decided the race you will join, it’s then up to you to evolve the character as you like.
The variety in races, appearances and overall skills helps instill a greater sense of ownership and connection than we could’ve felt in The Witcher 3. When you create a character in Elder Scrolls Online, you are attaching a part of yourself to that character.
The story is one you create on your own
Finally, the story of The Witcher 3 was a magnificent one and it really did have some powerful moments we haven’t seen before in gaming. That said, The Witcher 3’s story was already chosen for us, and to a certain extent, there wasn’t much we could do to craft our own tale.
Elder Scrolls Online not only gives people the chance to create their own character, but it allows people to generate a tale of their own throughout the world of Tamriel. Choosing the type of player you want to be and teaming up with friends will help you shape this new world.
Elder Scrolls Online has endured quite the journey since development began years ago and with June 9 nearly here, it’s exciting to think about what lies ahead. Elder Scrolls Online will launch on June 9 for PS4 and Xbox One.
