Moms, they do it all. From the cooking and cleaning of everyday life to the bake sale organizing and school volunteering special events- moms somehow manage to accomplish more in one 24 hour period than most people do in a week. They are the true embodiment of grace under pressure, incomparable patience and understanding, and could have Ph. D in multitasking. Let’s admit it, people; Moms are the real heroes throughout the whole year. So this holiday season, let us give the Moms what they really want.
Moms work overtime regularly, but especially during the holidays. Santa’s real elves are not the little men with bells on their shoes- they are Moms. No one brings the Christmas magic in a home like a mom can, but all of that holiday spirit can take its toll on Mom catching her beauty rest (not that she needs it, right?) What mom could really use is more sleep this year. Experts recommend seven to nine hours of sleep a night, but most moms are clocking in under that regularly. If possible, partners, get up earlier than everyone one day a week and be ready to take on the kids while Mom sleeps in. Get the kids fed, dressed, and out the door to the park for an hour or two. While Mom may not be unwrapping this gift under the tree, she will certain appreciate the extra Zzz’s.
Let’s be honest here, it’s rare to find a mom that does not drink coffee or caffeine of some sort. Coffee is a mom’s lifeblood; it is essential to her ability to mom. Seeing as most moms use this sweet nectar from the gods to do basically everything, why not help mom out by getting her well stocked with her favorite blend. Need recommendations? This is a great one for regular coffee drinkers and this one definitely does the trick for espresso. Or maybe, instead of the pricey cashmere sweater she’ll never get the chance to where (because children are messy), get her a gift card to her favorite coffee shop. This is like two gifts in one because not only will she get her much needed coffee, but any excuse to get out of the house and treat herself will feel like a luxury. Or if possible, splurge a little on the woman you can mom and get her a new, shiny coffee machine- which is really just the gift that keeps on giving!
Help with the house/kids
Do you know that a woman cannot possibly get angry with her partner while they are doing the dishes and wearing the baby in the Boba Wrap? It’s science. Well, maybe not, but it is highly unlikely that a mom would complain, and she is more likely to find that sort of thing highly attractive. Moms do so much around the house that the occasional help with the cleaning, laundry, and kids can seriously make a mom feel like the queen she truly is. So if you don’t already, start helping mom out some more around the house. You can even get creative and create a DIY coupon booklet (see Pinterest for help) for her to choose which and when she’d like some help with a certain chore. This Examiner has it on good authority that almost every mom would appreciate this gift.
From sun up to sun down, moms say a lot of things, asks many request, answer unending questions, give even more demands- all to help motivate and encourage their children and partners. One of the last things she says (if ever) is to herself that she is doing a good job and really that’s all she needs to hear. Telling mom that she is amazing and doing a wonderful job at motherhood costs you absolutely nothing, but it gives a mom everything she needs. All moms worry that they are not doing enough of something, when in reality they are doing plenty. Reminding mom of this on a regular basis is a simple, yet wonderfully fulfilling gift that mom will treasure.
