Strange update: Those following Bobby’s Facebook thread were confused when the shelter told someone that he was adopted, yet his PetHarbor page shows him as still at the shelter and he is, indeed, still at the shelter. Someone emailed the shelter and this is what they told me: I just wanted to let you know the scoop on Bobby. I emailed the shelter to find out what was up with this adoption hold until Dec. 3rd. They confirmed that this is true and that no one else can adopt him. apparently it is an out of the country adoption. Here’s what the last email i got from the shelter said, “This is a solid adoption commitment. Bobby is not available for adoption.” Thank you, Pets.
So Bobby is still at the shelter but is going to be adopted from someone who lives out of the country? And they aren’t adopting him until December 3rd? Seems rather strange. Updates will be posted here. Although I have sent MDAS two emails, they have not replied to either.
Bobby deserved better than to end his days in a kennel without seeing the sunlight and jockeying for attention with his kennel mate. He’s ten years old, and he was surrendered by his owner. It’s beyond imagining how anyone could give up a beautiful, sweet dog like this — but after a decade with him? What feeling human being could do that?
Bobby is very calm and laid back. Because he is an older dog, he probably had great manners and some training. Because he is an older dog, he doesn’t have much of a chance at getting out of the kill shelter alive. This is a shelter that is filled to capacity in a county where animal control can’t pick up all the dogs in the streets (perhaps hundreds of them) because the shelter is filled. An older dog like Bobby isn’t going to be taking up kennel space long. He has already been there for two weeks.
Bobby deserves a soft bed and warm loving hands, not a hard concrete floor in an old decaying building. Please share his story! Without networking, Bobby will die.
Watch his video and see how calm he is. There is more information on his Facebook thread. You can see his current status on his PetHarbor page. Bobby is listed as a German shepherd and Labrador mix. He is extremely handsome and friendly. He is ID# A1737304. Bobby is located at Miami Dade Animal Services, 7401 NW 74th St., Miami, FL 33166. The phone number is 305–884–1101. The shelter is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 am to 6:30 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. The shelter email is email@example.com. Don’t expect a quick response.
