A man named Thomas Sancomb is reported to have apparently come back to life after being declared dead. The 46-year-old was said to have been found cold to the touch in his apartment, and was being taken to the morgue when officials said his body underwent “spontaneous” movement, with his limbs jerking about prior to transit. This weird news headline is shared by News.com.au this Sunday, May 24, 2015, which noted that the man’s pulse did eventually return.
Although it may seem more like a fictional tale for a spooky Halloween night, this mystery case in Milwaukee Count this week is entirely real. Sancomb, who was formally pronounced dead after emergency technicians said he had collapsed his apartment on Tuesday afternoon, apparently revived shortly before being moved to the local morgue. Family and friends had originally become worried about the 46-year-old after not hearing from him that week. When the man’s girlfriend said he did not respond to her phone calls and text messages for 48 hours, she decided it was time to call police to check on him.
Law enforcement officials who later entered his apartment found Thomas Sancomb lying near the end of his bed. He reportedly appeared dead, and paramedics later confirmed that he was “in rigor … and cold to the touch.” As a result, no efforts were made to resuscitate him. However, it seems the Milwaukee County morgue was not going to be able to take an extended look at the man, because on his way to the mortuary, Sancomb was stated in the source report to have experienced “spontaneous respirations.”
According to Design Trend News, the forensic examiner called paramedics back after noticing his right arm and leg had begun to move. Incredibly, however, there was no pulse present in the victim at the time. The family was immediately phoned, and within 10 minutes, Sancomb’s pulse was confirmed to have returned. The perceived “dead” victim turned miracle patient was rushed to Colubmia St. Mary’s Hospital. His diagnosis was redacted from the press release, however. This isn’t the first time that a man who was once pronounced dead has apparently “come back to life.” The video above features an individual who reportedly revived during his very own funeral!
As cited by Evan Solochek, a spokesperson for the Milwaukee hospital, federal privacy laws prevent any further information from being revealed at this time. What exactly might have caused Sancomb’s unbelievable recovery and inexplicable “body movements” after rigor had apparently set in are still speculated. The 46-year-old man’s brother says that although his sibling drank and smoked, he was not a drug user. He did acknowledge that his brother had been having trouble walking recently, but the fact that he is alive and getting better is the most important aspect of this medical enigma for his loved ones.
“Thomas’ health is the most important thing we’re focusing on right now,” the family member added. He declined further comment at this time, and no details on Sancomb’s current status have been shared with the public as of Sunday morning.
