It’s been one of the most anticipated openings in the Brandywine Valley in a long time. And now that its here, crowds are coming in and out of the massive, sprawling building in droves. We’re talking about Wegmans Market in Concordville and for those of you that know about Wegmans, you know it has taken the idea of a supermarket and turn it on its head.
Located next to the Applied Card building off of Route 202 and Route 1 in Concordville, Wegmans setting up shop in this area was a no-brainer, based on the ever-growing number of businesses in the area, not to mention its close proximity to Delaware, who lack a Wegmans.
This Wegmans, as with many of the newer Wegmans being built, is what many term a “mega-market”. Besides being a regular grocery store and offering all of the essentials, this Wegmans becomes a full one-stop shop for just about everything where you could spend hours. It is not just a place to simply shop, but to stay awhile.
Quite arguably one of the biggest draws to a Wegmans is the massive eating area which features just about any kind of grub you could possibly want. From the buffet of hot food, to the sushi, to the pizza, to the sandwiches, there is almost literally everything. The seating area is sprawling, so there is plenty of room for you and your family to set up shop and eat your haul.
If a full service sit down meal is your preference, this Wegmans location has you covered here too. The Pub is only offered in 7 Wegmans locations, with the Concordville location being one of them. It offers everything from burgers and salads to full entrees such as steak or crab cakes. There is also a full bar that features a decent menu of local craft beer favorites.
Speaking of craft beer, the selection here is almost second to none, akin to almost any large beer emporium. The aisles are filled with unique six packs and large bottles, as well as a large selection of singles in which you can “mix a six”. It is a breath of fresh air for local beer nerds who want to try different brands and styles of beers and don’t want to be committed to a full case.
You’ve heard people rave about Wegmans and you maybe have even driven miles to shop at one yourself. But now you have one right here in the Brandywine Valley and it is set to change the grocery shopping landscape here for years to come.
