Jerry Weese blasted a house-record 829 series at Englewood Bowl on Friday night (Aug. 14), and that represents the headline performance in this weekend’s atombash.com report of high scores from bowling centers in the Sarasota-Manatee-Charlotte County area.
Competing in the Friday Summer Mixed League, Weese fired games of 265, 276 and 288 to surpass the previous Englewood house record of 824, established by Guy Jones on Feb. 20 of this year. Weese had 29 strikes and two open frames en route to his 829 set.
“Englewood Bowl has always been a challenge for me, as prior to Friday, I was only averaging 201 in that league,” Weese said. “It has been a tough house for me to carry, and even though the shot seemed to be the same, I just think I finally made the proper adjustment.”
Weese has been a high-average player for some time, and his past three yearbook averages have been 230, 224 and 228. He still holds the all-time record series for Charlotte County with an 868 on games of 279, 299 and 290 at Treasure Lanes on Sept. 15, 2008.

Lindsay’s big game opened a 744 series, leaving him with a 215 average, and Ursomanno’s 288 completed a 689 series that upped his average to 209.
