Week 3 of the 2015 NFL schedule is upon us, and already four teams have their back up against the wall! To say a team is facing a “must win” situation in Week 3 may be a bit strong however for these teams it may not be far from the truth.
According to a Sportsline report, the Lions, Ravens and Seahawks have all yet to get win number one on the season and the time to push the panic button may be this weekend. Historically, starting 0-2 made it tough for a team to make the postseason, however it can be done. As a matter of fact, the Giants started 0-2 in 2007 – the year they bested New England in the Super Bowl. While we know 0-2 is far from a season wasted, 0-3 is.
NFL teams that start the season 0-3 rarely make the playoffs. As in only 22% of the time rarely. The Giants faced a possible 0-3 start Thursday night vs. the Washington Redskins but avoided that mess by defeating Washington 32-21. At 1-2, and the Cowboys losing Tony Romo and Dez Bryant, catching the Boys may not be all that impossible for New York. As for the other three winless teams, this Sunday may be put up or shut up time already.
The Lions, Seahawks and Ravens are all 0-2, however the good news for those three teams is they are finally going to play in front of the hometown folks. All three teams were in the postseason last year, but all have gotten off to a terrible start. After dropping two straight on the road, Detroit, Baltimore and Seattle all opened the season on the road for the first two games. Now their fans are hoping that getting back home will be the trick for earning their first win of 2015 and getting back on track towards a winning season.
Speaking of winning, last week was another good one against the Vegas line. The weekly picks finished 3-2, bringing the yearly mark up to 9-3 so far in 2015.
