On Saturday May 9, 2015 We Predict A Riot celebrated the release of their latest CD “A World Unknown” at The Knitting Factory Concert House in downtown Reno. To help the boys celebrate this very special occasion were, (from Northern California) Dennis Is Dead and two of Reno’s finest metal bands, The Jet Stole Home and For Those Searching.
Attendance for the show was very good with around six hundred metalcore fans rockin’ out to every band on the bill.
We Predict a Riot originated from Carson City, Nevada in 2012. The band has created a name for themselves in Northern Nevada and the surrounding areas. With engaging melodic lyrics and heavy break-downs, their music is enjoyed by a variety of different music fans. It’s hard to not get into their songs, simply because the lyrics are from the heart, along with the catchy sound of the band.
WPAR’s influences are, Asking Alexandria, We Came as Romans, As I Lay Dying, and I The Breather, just to name a few. Even with those bands as influences, they have a sound of their own that is totally original, and difficult to duplicate. The hard work that each band member has put into the band and the love that they have for the art of music shows every time they get on stage.
Their outpouring of appreciation to their fans is another reason why they are so likable. We Predict a Riot being the humble band that they are, always remember that without their fans they would not be where they are today.
Current members include, C.J. Klein (vocals), Richard Romero (vocals), Ray Ramirez (guitars), Danny Harrington (guitars), Darby Wadley (bass, backing vocals) and Eric Albright (drums).
WPAR packed the concert hall by selling over two hundred and fifty tickets on their own for this show, which is very impressive in it self. It really shows the bands dedication to their music. It seems that every time the band plays a show it gets bigger every time.
Their set lasted close to ninety minutes and went like this, (from the set list on stage)
“The Frontline”, “Weparty”, “Beauty In The Beast”, “New Beginning”, “Beyond The Threshold”, “Fictions”, “Life After Late Fees”, “Rise Above”, “A World Unknown”, “Torn Apart” and one encore song, “Item 9”.
This was a very high energy show. The band has a great stage presence, which the fans really like. These guys play so hard core that being a photographer, they are very hard to shoot as they are all over the stage running and jumping around, you can tell they really love playing live for their fans.
The new CD, “A World Unknown” will officially drop on iTunes later this month, be sure to buy a copy when it does, you won’t be disappointed. To see the offical video (click here)
Main support for WPAR at this show was Dennis Is Dead.
Dennis Is Dead is a melodic metalcore band based out of Northern California.
The current line-up goes like this, Daniel Song (lead vocals), Ray Casarez (guitar), Adam Montez (guitar), Josh Diaz (bass) and Michael Heffernan (drums).
The band got around forty minutes to rock the house and the set went like this, (from the band via e-mail)
“The Inner Circle”, “Close To Home”, “The Atlas”, “Damaged Goods”, “All Hearts In”, “Flatlander” and “Night Rider”.
These guys were a perfect fit for this show. They got the crowd ready for the main event by blowing the roof off. They are no strangers to Reno and definitely a fan favorite.
Second up on the night was Reno locals, The Jet Stole Home.
The Jet Stole Home (Reno, NV.) formed as a band in October 2011 with members from former bands, Hear Me Arizona, Fearless Descent and Full Count.
Current line-up is as follows, Ethan Lane (vocals), Jeremy Martin (bass, clean vox), Kyle Daters (guitar), Ryan Fitzgerald (guitar) and Josh Lopez (drums).
The bands set lasted around thirty minutes and went like this, (also from the band via e-mail)
“Intro”, “New Song” (the band tells me they have yet to find a name for this one), “Disaster”, “Betrayal”, “The Further”, “Friend”, “Death Eater”, “Loose Ends” and “Science Against Nature”.
These guys are very good live. This examiner has seen them before and they get better with every show, very impressive.
Starting the night off was another local Reno metalcore band, For Those Searching.
For Those Searching is a 5 piece band from Reno, Nevada. The band formed in June of 2014.
Current members include, Eddy Bueno (vocals), Caleb Arnaud (guitar), Dalton Piatt (guitar), Ryan Adams (bass) and Christian Tucker (drums).
These guys got a thirty minute set that went like this, (also from the band via e-mail)
“The Raven” (Intro), “These Demons”, “Foundations”, “Anchors Down”, “Oceans”, “Letting Go Of The Past” and “Counting Stars”.
This being the first time seeing this young band play, I must say they were pretty good. They kept the audenice rockin’ the whole set. For Those Searching most definitely have a furture in the local Reno metal scene.
This show was a very hard core metal show, not for the faint of heart. The mosh pit was hard core, the fans in attendance were hard core and most importantly, all the bands were hard core.
A great time was had by all.
