On Nov. 11 ESPN reported that the Warriors cruised to match a franchise-best start of 9-0 after defeating the Grizzlies in Memphis 100-84 Wednesday evening. Reigning NBA MVP Steph Curry put in 28 points, five rebounds, five assists and five steals to lead the way for his team. Marc Gasol had 26 points and seven rebounds for the losing side. The Warriors were out rebounded 41-36 in the game, but it didn’t matter thanks to 48% shooting from the field and 40% shooting from three-point range.
Tonight they pay a visit to the young Timberwolves, who recently lost at home to the Charlotte Hornets 104-95. The two Jeremys, Lin and Lamb, had 19 and 18 points respectively, while Nicolas Batum added 17 points and six rebounds for the improved Hornets. Minnesota had a 48-34 rebounding advantage and hit 47% of their three-pointers in the loss. Five guys finished in double digits including NBA Dunk champZach Levine who led with 20. Rookie center Karl-Anthony Towns added 19 points with veteran shooting guard Kevin Martin adding 18.
The game odds have Golden State now as 8-1/2 point favorites on the road, after opening as 7-1/2 point favorites. The over/under points total will be 210 for the game. On the moneyline, the Wolves are +355 home underdogs while the Warriors are -445 on the road as favorites. For those interested in taking the red hot defending champs to win it all again, they are listed as the top overall team on the futures list to win the 2015-16 NBA Finals at 5 to 2 odds, followed by LeBron James and the Cavs at 3 to 1, and the Spurs at 4 to 1.
