To strengthen their commitment to environmental stewardship and awareness, Victory Brewing Company (Downingtown, Pennsylvania) announced this week that they will be relaunching Headwaters Ale in cans with national distribution in an effort to raise funds for the Headwaters Grant.
Headwaters Ale is the latest offering from Victory Brewing to make the transition to cans this year, but the brewery is doing this as an initiative to expand distribution of the offering to raise funds and awareness on a national level for the Headwaters Grant, a means of support to keep the water and watershed from which all Victory beer “springs” clean. Victory Brewing Company knows that water is as vital to life as it is to beer, so this is a cause that is very close to the brewery’s heart. To date, Victory has donated $35,000 to water advocacy groups thanks to the contribution of Headwaters Ale sales in five counties in Pennsylvania. With the newly expanded distribution, a portion of all national sales of Headwaters Ale (bottles, cans and draft) will now be donated with the goal of raising $25,000 and a priceless amount of awareness for the Headwaters Grant over the next year.
“Everything, including ourselves, would cease to exist without clean water for sustenance. Many people act as though they are unaware of that fact and remain unaware of the true power their purchasing decisions wield,” said Victory’s President and Brewmaster, Bill Covaleski. “We hope to reinforce that when fans choose Headwaters Ale they aren’t just proving their good taste through a flavorful beer choice, but are also supporting a way of life that sustains our brewery as well as this planet for generations to come. They really are helping save the planet one beer at a time.”
If you happen to be unfamiliar with this offering, Headwaters Ale is an American Pale Ale that comes in at an easy drinking 5.2% ABV. Citra and Simcoe hops take the lead in this brew by providing aromatic and flavor notes of citrus and tea-like herbaceousness. Pilsner and Vienna malts play a supporting role in creating a soft base and crisp drinking experience. The final product comes together to live up to its tagline of “A Refreshing Boldly-Hopped Ale.”
Headwaters Ale is a year-round offering that is available on draft and in six-packs of 12 oz. cans (suggested retail price of $9.99 per pack). You can find this brew at craft beer friendly establishments in Alabama and throughout Victory’s 36 state distribution footprint beginning this week. The next time you see Headwaters Ale on a tap list or shelf, go ahead and grab one knowing that you will be drinking a delicious Pale Ale for a great cause. You certainly cannot lose with that combo. Prost!

Notes on the new can design: “The crisp, delicious and aromatically whole flower hopped liquid carries on; however it will be showcased and packaged in a stylish, authentically new way. Inclusive of a bold, strategic and dramatic move from bottle to can, the clever new label visually reflects the two main focuses of the entire brand concept. Found under the strong and ubiquitous red “V” lays a lush, beautiful river scene depicted within a single water droplet to signify the need to sustain earth’s most valued resource. However, upon further inspection or at first glance (depending on who one asks), that very same droplet visually depicts a whole flower hop in which the beer, and its craft brewery also heavily rely.”
