Honoring our Veterans.
How do you say thank you to those who have served to protect you and your loved ones? Walmart has gone as far as asking people to light a green light in their home to show their appreciation for the Veterans that served. Some may say that this a pure profit ploy. The thought of American’s around the country stopping for a moment to show they are proud to support Veterans is a step in the right direction.
The truth is that many veterans struggle to get their life back after serving. Many veterans struggle with PTSD. This can make it hard to deal with tasks we may take for granted such as finding a job or even a place to live.
Many companies across America understand this and though, they can’t fix all the problems they do their best to stop to take note of the men and women who have served our country by offering Veterans discounts on their products and services.
Below is a list of many restaurants that offer discounts on Veterans Day for Veterans. Some of them provide free meals while others give a percentage off the bill. Many of them do require proof of Military Service.
These include: a Military ID Card (active/reserve/retired), VA ID card, Current Leave and Earnings Statement (LES), Drivers License with Veterans Designation, Photograph in uniform, wearing your uniform (if your service permits), Veterans Organization Card (e.g., American Legion and VFW), DD214, discharge paperwork, or other form of identification. Note, there is a New Federal Veterans ID Card coming soon. Other restaurants and companies may go by the honor system.
Be sure to call ahead to verify locations, times and participation. Many of the listed companies are franchises and may have different policies. Many restaurants will be added to the list as time goes on.
• OLIVE GARDEN
• STARBUCKS (Free Coffee)
• TEXAS ROADHOUSE
• OUTBACK STEAKHOUSE
• FREDDY’S (DISCOUNT’S EVERY MONDAY)
• RED LOBSTER (FREE APPETIZER)
• RED ROBIN
Restaurants are not the only companies that are doing their part to show Veterans that they care. Companies like Disney World are offering discounted tickets for Veterans. Along with many other companies such as Resource Therapy who offer discounts on Therapeutic Coaching & Hypnosis for Veterans suffering from PTSD.
You can also sign up for programs such as Veterans Advantage to receive discounts with many different companies throughout the year.
If you are a Veteran we would like to take a moment to THANK YOU for your time and service.
