A lot has happened in the last three days. Fashion Week Las Vegas cancelled its Season 7, scheduled to start this week. Then Kristen Pock, Elena Pineda, Heather MacIntyre and Lori Lee Samson decided they weren’t going to take no for an answer. And a whole lot more people in the Las Vegas community pitched in to help turn the disaster of that cancelled event into something worthwhile.
After putting together a plan and team for the designers remaining in town who needed to show their collections, the replacement event management hit a critical snag: on Wednesday, August 19 they were told that the venue they had counted on would not be made available to them. So much work done. And yet it seemed as though it might not be possible to salvage an event to showcase the designers who had come to Las Vegas and been left without a Fashion Week.
Then someone stepped forward to save the day. Photographer Shane O’Neal heard the story, and his first reaction was, “What can I do to help?” Well, since you mention it, Shane, about that studio of yours . . .”
And, simple as that, the deal was done. Oh, there were reconfigurations to the studio to support a fashion show, and it needed to be on Saturday because of a prior booking. Things moved around, clean ups to be done, but Shane granted the team full access when they needed it, and his full support in what they needed to do.
“Say, Shane, we don’t have a videographer for his yet, I don’t suppose . . .” And Shane did suppose. Not only would he and his partner video tape the event and provide live streaming and display on their wall, they would incorporate the event into a planned launch party for their new SONSTV.com TV venture.
And a name. An event has to have a name. The team decided on Vegas Runway as the name for this new show, and so it shall be called in future stories.
The venue is set: Shane O’Neal Studios, 4600 Polaris Ave #100, Las Vegas, NV 89103. The date has been set: Saturday, August 22. The first show scheduled to hit the runway at 6 PM, with celebrity MC Asia Jade at the helm.
The big decisions have been made, the most important pieces found and put in place. But a lot more needs to be done, and there is very little time left to do it. Anyone wishing to help, either as crew, models, artists or publicity, is asked to please contact Elena Pineda. And, come to the show!
