In something of a surprise the Conference USA Volleyball coaches have tipped UTSA to finish only in second place in 2015. The poll was released on Thursday afternoon, along with the pre-season all-conference teams with Dajana Boskovic and Jessica Waldrip named to the all-conference team.
It was the 2015 C-USA Champions, WKU that were tipped to win the league after they shared the conference title with the Roadrunners. WKU had a better post-season after a tournament that the Roadrunners will be keen to avenge.
UTSA finished their league season 15-1, that one loss proving enough to be forced to share the regular season crown with WKU. It was the fifth straight year that the Roadrunners had managed 20 wins in a season, posting a 20-9 record over the whole season, as the program continued to grow in stature.
Three Texas teams were all grouped together with the Roadrunners being followed by Rice and North Texas. The remaining playoff places were tipped to go to Florida Atlantic, Southern Miss, Marshall, and Middle Tennessee.
Towards the bottom the remaining teams went FIU, Charlotte, UTEP, UAB, and Louisiana Tech tabbed to finish last. The season is fast approaching and expectations are high again for the Roadrunners who will look to go one better than their pre-season prediction.
For the second year in a row both Boskovic and Waldrip were named to the pre-season all conference team. Boskovic made the final all-conference team in 2014 as she managed 4.64 kills and 0.80 blocks per set. Waldrip was on the all-conference team last season as well, after managing 10.94 assists per set and 24 service aces in the season.
