Heartbreaking update: Both wonderful dogs were killed today. The world lost two sweet and fabulous dogs and two dogs lost their lives because our shelter kill too many animals.
Two young dogs will be killed tomorrow at the Manhattan NYC Animal Care and Control unless they are adopted or rescued by noon. They are both amazingly wonderful dogs, and both passed their evaluations with practically perfect scores. They would fit into any home situation. They are great. But that doesn’t matter if no one steps up for them. Even a foster offer could save their lives.
These two dogs were abandoned when their owner became too ill to care for them and had made no provisions for them. Both dogs, as sweet as can be, urgently need to find rescue or be adopted. Montgomery and Birmingham are both wonderfully affectionate and personable dogs. The volunteers love them!
While the intake information says that the dogs were not socialized much, they are open and friendly to everyone. Monty is the dog with more energy. She is happy, social and very friendly. She passed her behavior evaluation with flying colors! She is house trained, walks beautifully on a leash, and is very responsive to commands. She loves to cuddle and kiss. She wags her tail when she sees other dogs. She is crate trained and loves to play with toys.
While the volunteers would love to see Monty and her sister Birmingham adopted or rescued together, they would also like them to just get adopted. They are scheduled to be killed tomorrow, and that would be tragic. These gentle girls have so much to offer — please share their story to help save their lives. A foster offer could save their lives.
