The emaciated pit bull dubbed “Mousie,” who was found too weak to stand on a street in San Bernardino, California, on Thursday, has been rescued. Shortly after being discovered, the frail dog was transported to the San Bernardino City Shelter, and by Thursday night, word was released that Labradors and Friends Dog Rescue had agreed to take her in.
On the Facebook thread established for Mousie, an update was posted about her dire condition, “She’s fighting for her life. After being brought to the shelter and immediately taken to an outside vet she has been diagnosed with having Pyometra (a life threatening infection of the uterus).” Unfortunately Mousie is currently too weak to undergo surgery.
Mousie continues to receive antibiotics, I.V. fluids and nourishment as her veterinarians attempt to stabilize her and help her gather enough strength for the surgery that she needs. Her rescuers wrote, “We should know more tomorrow after she is assessed. She has Labradors and Friends Dog Rescue standing strong behind her and of course you, her amazing village, filled with love.”
