Unsettled weather returns to the region through midweek

by atom bash

…WEATHER SYNOPSIS…

The area of high pressure responsible for the string of fair and tranquil weather of the past several days will be losing its grip on our weather today as it moves into the Canadian Maritime provinces. An unsettled weather pattern will evolve over the next couple days starting with a weak warm front that approaches the area today, and passes through overnight tonight. Some light showers are possible across the region with this feature.

A cold front approaches Tuesday afternoon and attempts to pass through the area Tuesday night. This front is forecast to stall to our south, and a wave, or waves, of low pressure look to form along it. This may bring a soaking rainfall to the region late Tuesday and into Wednesday. A chilly northerly wind may make Wednesday a rather raw and rainy day.

High pressure builds back into the region later in the week, but it looks to be a ‘dirty high’ (meteorology speak), simply referring to the fact that it will be associated with a fair amount of cloud cover. Another weak system looks to slide through the area to start the weekend, and after some showers on Saturday, improving conditions look to return to close next weekend out.

Temperatures will be above normal today and tomorrow, and near to slightly below normal for the remainder of the period. Precipitation amounts will be above normal Tuesday and Wednesday, and near to below normal through the remainder of the period.
