Halloween Horror Nights are coming up soon at Universal Studios Hollywood. There are new mazes, a hip-hop dance show, a new Terror Tram experience and 3 new scare zones. The sickies on the creative team at Universal are at it again. Bringing back our favorites, and some brand new mazes inspired by some of the most popular movies on the silver screen, Halloween in Hollywood is looking good! Let the terror begin! Tickets are now on sale for the event that runs Sept 18th, 2015 through November 1st, 2015.
Always a favorite with the zombie lovers, The Walking Dead is back. The maze this year is called “Wolves Not Far” and is inspired by Season 5 of AMC’s “The Walking Dead”. Guests will begin their journey at Terminus, where crazy hunger has taken over those living there. In the chaos the guests will encounter even worse as they find “W” walkers, witness unspeakable horrors and end up in the loading dock of the Del Arno Food warehouse face to sort-of face with hungry walkers.
The first of the new mazes this year stars everyone’s favorite Bogeyman, Michael Myers in “Halloween: Michael Myers Comes Home”. John Carpenter’s Halloween, called one of the greatest horror films of all times, inspires this immersive new experience. The maze takes guests though the town of Haddonfield, where on one fateful Halloween night in 1963, 6 year old Michael Myers, brutally stabbed his sister to death. Guests relive the horror he inflicted after his escape from a psychiatric hospital to take bloody relentless revenge on his new unsuspecting victims. The abandoned and blood-splattered Meyer’s family home sets the stage for guests to feel like they are stepping right into the movie. The attention to detail is amazing and terrifying. “Halloween is the ultimate classic slasher film that spawned an entire horror film genre,” said John Murdy, Creative Director at Universal Studios Hollywood and Executive Producer of “Halloween Horror Nights.” “Bringing John Carpenter’s disturbing, cutting-edge vision to life as part of ‘Halloween Horror Nights’ is the ideal complement to our maze lineup as we continue to break creative ground with outstanding horror icons that raise the intensity level of our experience.”
Another new maze in the line up is “Guillermo del Toro Presents Crimson Peak: Maze of Madness.” This maze is inspired by the director who directed the feature film. Guests follow the footsteps of the lead character, Edith Cushing, from her home in America to her haunted mansion, Allerdale Hall, in the remote English Countryside. Guests will navigate a labyrinth of paranormal tortured souls who have born witness to the estates dark history and reside there as vengeful ghosts.
The comedy blockbuster “This is the End” takes a dark turn in their all-new 3D maze. The end of the world will never be the same as guests go to the ultimate A-list party just before the apocalypse begins. The fate of humanity hangs in the hands of the guests, as we see if they are brave enough to fight the devil and either be damned for all eternity or go to heaven. It’s a life-or-death struggle against the demons of hell in 3D!
My favorite new maze brings together scenes from all three of the Insidious movies. “Insidious: Return to the Further” investigates unexplained phenomena in the Lambert family’s Victorian house. A seance unleashes ghosts and demons from the movie, that want nothing more than to take over the world of the living.
Back by popular request is the “AVP: Alien vs. Predator” maze. The maze pits the two rival alien species in a fight to the death, with the humans walking through in the crossfire. New last year- this maze was a crowd favorite inspired by the cult sci-fi movies.
The Terror Tram has a new theme this year. “Terror Tram: Survive the Purge” is based on The Purge film series and invites guests to a “Purge Party in the famous Universal backlot, promising food and fun. Tricked into going to the party to watch the nights purging, the guests will find out the evening turns in a living nightmare that few will survive.
Other “fun” at Halloween Horror Nights Hollywood:
Jabbawockeez is an award-winning hip hop dance group and is known as America’s best dance crew. Considered dance movement pioneers, Jabbawockeez will bring their innovative choreography, and signature white masks to Universal Studios in an all-new show created especially for Halloween Horror Nights.
Scare zones are all over the park and keep guests terrorized as they navigate from one place to another. This year’s Scare Zones include: “The Purge: Urban Nightmares, Exterminatorz and their hideous hybrid creatures, Corpz-an army of decaying WWI soldiers and Krampus, the demonic Christmas Devil.
