Actress Mindy Kaling may have been the voice of Disgust in Disney • Pixar’s hit film “Inside Out,” but “The Mindy Project” star would be anything but disgusted by the newest menu addition at Umami Burger inside SLS Las Vegas.
The latest collaboration in Umami Burger’s Artist Series, “The Mindy Burger” made its debut earlier this month at participating Umami Burger locations nationwide to benefit the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. Priced at $13, the succulent burger was created by the former “Office” star and features Umami Burger’s signature beef patty topped with pickled jalapeño, fried onion strings and house-made sriracha aioli on Umami Burger’s signature bun.
“I love Umami and I was so honored to be able to create my own burger,” Kaling said in a statement issued to the press. “Spicy and cheesy, it reflects my own personality.”
One dollar from each burger purchased will be donated to the Manhattan Beach-based Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, which provides numerous resources and education for patients and families living with the disease. One of the nation’s deadliest forms of cancer, those diagnosed with pancreatic cancer have a five-year survival rate of just 7 percent. The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network has set a goal to double that survival rate by 20202 through research, patient support, community outreach and advocacy for a cure.
Named “Burger of the Year” by GQ magazine, Umami Burger is known for its unique burgers made with hand-ground, hand-formed premium steak. It produces all of its own condiments and cheeses and grinds its meat in-house throughout the day. Additionally, the SLS location features an outdoor beer garden overlooking the Strip and its own William Hill Sports Book.
Umami Burger is open inside SLS Las Vegas Monday-Thursday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Friday from 11 a.m. to midnight, Saturday from 10 a.m. to midnight and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. For more information, call 702-761-7614.
