Exactly what is Donald Trump all about ? Some would probably equate him to Donald Duck. How could such a blatant unapologetic, chauvinistic seemingly racist, blasphemous individual continue to gain poll ratings in the republican presidential nomination process? His response to almost any and every question is “I’m going to be so good” or it’s going to be so good you won’t believe it”! He’s big on insults short on facts and policy.
He’s demeaned and attacked women and Mexicans. And yet we continue to hear him brag about how polls are surging in these areas for him. Trump is never short on bravado. This can only beg the question are republican women truly that pathetic that they have no brain? No self-respect? Is it no wonder that the party is dying out? A party headed by, populated by and working for the interest of group of old white men. A party with a shelf life that is vastly approaching. A party perceived by many as extremely backwards, prejudice, racist and sexist with Donald Trump at the realm they can feel secure in their match to a hopeful presidential run.
In terms of education Trump is against Common Core. He has vowed to almost completely close down the national education department. Like most issues Trump doesn’t state a great many particulars about why he is against Common Core. He seems to be mainly against it because it is decentralization. He says that states should make their own decisions. Teachers and parents across the country are against it for a litany of reasons. Their reasons are very specific many of which have to do with their ideas that it may not work and that it maybe too intrusive.
But there are still many who feel as Trump. That as parents, teachers and or local administrators and legislators they should have the say over local children and not Washington. The sentiment also being that as local representatives they are elected to represent their constituents. They feel they know better than Washington what is good for their students. Likewise they see the federal education department as an unnecessary addition a large and unwanted growth to federal government while also unnecessarily adding to the deficit. Because states already have departments of education the federal education department is easily viewed as unnecessary duplication.
The Trump factor may very well come down to the fact that Donald Trump’s edicts appeals to the average Joe.
Trump’s plane speaking matter makes him appealing to the average American. Trump often uses the language of the average person. He doesn’t use a bunch of hyperbole. Ironically enough the founding fathers of this nation did not want a career politician for the office of the presidency. Trump is the everyday average person with a few billion to boot.
Nonetheless his speech and delivery is a lot closer to the average American than most politicians running for the presidency.
And well his insults while they are cutting they are also skillfully placed. Openly calling lead politicians “stupid dummy”. No doubt the language of a two year old at best. It is entertainment and a venue for many to vicariously do and say what has been buried somewhere in the recesses of their beings. Trump has somehow given them voice.
