The trash pickup schedule will be delayed by one day all next week in Dearborn and Dearborn Heights due to observing the Memorial Day holiday.
Trash will be picked up on a Tuesday-Saturday schedule: homes normally with Monday trash pickups will be serviced on Tuesday instead, while homes with a normal Tuesday pickup will have it delayed until Wednesday, and so on for all normal pickups on Wednesday and throughout the rest of the week. Michigan Avenue between Greenfield and Schaefer Roads will be closed Monday morning to accommodate the Memorial Day parade route.
Dearborn Heights City Hall and the Canfield Community Center will close at 5 p.m. today, and remain closed Friday through Monday, and reopen Tuesday. The Berwyn Senior Citizen Center will not only close at the end of Thursday, and be closed on Friday, the weekend and Memorial Day as usual, but both of Dearborn Heights’ senior centers will be closed through all of next week. However, Eton Senior Citizen Center will remain open 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday and Saturday this week for its annual book sale.
The Dearborn Administrative Center, Ford Community and Performing Arts Center (including the Dearborn Senior Center), 19th District Court and the Dearborn Ice Skating Center will all be closed on Memorial Day (the Dearborn Administrative Center and 19th District Court will close on the weekend as usual). All three branches of the Dearborn Public Library will be open on Saturday for regular hours on Saturday, but be closed on Sunday and Memorial Day.
The Richard A. Young Recreation Center in Dearborn Heights will be open for regular hours throughout this weekend except for Monday. The Caroline Kennedy and John F. Kennedy Libraries will be open on Friday, but will close at 5 p.m. until they reopen on Tuesday. The 20th District Court will open from 9-5 p.m. on Friday, but will not be open on Monday.
If there are any emergencies over the weekend requiring the services of Dearborn’s police, fire or DPW, then people are instructed to call 9-1-1. Dearborn Heights residents are also asked to dial 9-1-1 for a police, fire or water-main break emergencies, though for all other DPW emergencies over the Memorial Day weekend, they are asked to call the non-emergency DPW number of (313) 277-6770.
All city buildings except for Dearborn Heights’ senior centers will reopen with normal business hours on Tuesday, and the normal Monday-Friday trash schedule will resume next week as well.
