As the kids (and adults) start the holiday countdown, the wish lists for the season’s hottest toys begin. Kids may dream of a robotic dinosaur or a superfast race car. Parents may seek to drive their kids to a game with a slightly educational aspect. Some grandparents may not have a clue which item to buy. For anyone who love toys and games, the annual Chicago Toy and Game Fair is the perfect location to fill out wish lists and complete some holiday shopping.
Held at Navy Pier on November 21 and 22, the weekend before Thanksgiving, the 13th annual Chicago Toy and Game Fair (ChiTAG) is the largest toys and game fair in the U.S. that is open to the public. The whole family can pursue the aisles and test out some amazing toys. From perennial favorite companies like Hasbro, Razor and Spinmaster to newcomers and young inventors, Navy Pier is all about playing and having fun. The weekend offers contests, interactive events and shopping. With over 100 toy and game exhibitors, everyone should be able to find a favorite toy or game.
“The Chicago Toy & Game Fair is the premier destination for families throughout the Midwest to have a hands-on experience of the newest, hottest toys and games of the holiday season,” said Mary Couzin, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Chicago Toy & Game Group. “Kids will also have the awesome opportunity to get an exclusive behind-the-scene glimpse into the world of toy and game creation, when they meet the clever inventors behind both brand new products and some of the immensely popular classics that have been enjoyed by families for decades.”
In addition to the fair, the Chicago Toy & Game Group will be celebrating toy and gaming fun for the entire weekend. The weekend’s festivities begin with the playCHIC Fashion Show on November 19. Several fashion designers team with toy and game brands to create an inspirational look. Last year one designer created an entire dress from Rainbow Loom bands. The playCHIC Fashion Show takes place on Thursday, November 19 at 7 p.m. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit playchicfashion.com.
During the ChiTAG event, several smaller events will occur. The Young Inventor Challenge showcases children who have toy and game inspiration on their mind. Children ages 6 to 18 will present their original toy and game inventions. Participants will receive valuable insight from the toy and game industry and winning submissions will receive special prizes. The event will be held on November 21 from 10 a.m. till 2 p.m.
Tickets for ChiTAG at Navy Pier are available now. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children, available now at ChiTAGfair.com. Fair hours are Nov. 21 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Nov. 22 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
