The Toyota Texas Bass Classic (TTBC) returns to Lake Fork in Quitman, Texas this Memorial Day Weekend – Saturday, Sunday and Monday – May 23 to May 25. For 2015, this premier world championship of bass fishing event will feature 35 of the world’s best anglers that include a record six anglers from Texas.
Representing Texas will be the defending Toyota Texas Bass Classic Champion and Huntington, Texas native, Keith Combs, who boated a whopping 110 pounds of bass last year to win the 2014 title.
Combs is joined by fellow Texas pros Todd Faircloth (Jasper), Shinichi Fukae (Palestine), and 2008 TTBC Champion Kelly Jordan (Palestine).
The 2015 final field consists of the top 15 anglers in 2014 Angler of the Year points from both the FLW and Bass Elite Series. Some other notable anglers include 2014 Toyota Bassmaster Angler of the Year, Greg Hackney, 2013 recipient and 2014 runner-up Toyota Bassmaster Angler of the Year Aaron Martens, and Andy Morgan, 2014 and 2013 FLW Tour Angler of the Year.
In addition to competing for the coveted title of TTBC Champion, anglers will be battling it out for two additional awards: the Toyota Tundra Big Bass Award and the LEER Heavy Weight Award.
- The LEER Heavy Weight Award is awarded to the angler with the heaviest total weight of fish from any of the three days of the tournament and will win a LEER truck cap.
- The Toyota Tundra Big Bass Award is new to the 2015 event. The angler who catches the single heaviest fish from any of the three days of the competition will win a 2015 Toyota Tundra.
Due to the generosity of Toyota and the other sponsors, this is a non-entry fee event and all anglers are guaranteed prize money whatever their final standing.

Toyota, through its distributor Gulf States Toyota, is the title sponsor for the Toyota Texas Bass Classic.
The Toyota Texas Bass Classic was founded by a group that included Dan Friedkin (an avid fisherman) who is the founder and owner of Gulf States Toyota which is headquartered in Houston, and manages the distribution of Toyota vehicles in the Texas region. Mr. Friedkin is very active in the TTBC and Texas fishing – serving as the Chairman-Emeritus of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission.
When the fishing is done and trophies handed out, the true winners are the people and youth of Texas who benefit from the extensive array of educational programs and fish conservation/management programs of the TPWD. All of the proceeds generated by the TTBC Foundation at this event are passed to the TPWD for the support of their activities.
The contributions from the Foundation since inception now exceed $2 million that go to fund youth education and outreach programs including the Neighborhood Fishin’ program which selects and stocks lakes in urban areas affording city youth the opportunity to learn and experience the world of Texas bass fishing.
