It’s time to celebrate the birth of our great nation once again. If you are like most people, it’s also time to figure out your plans for July 4. Baltimore offers many wonderful patriotic celebrations from which to choose. Here are some of the top spots for fun, food, music and fireworks.
Baltimore is the birthplace of the country’s national anthem and home to the USS Constellation. It is also home to the state’s largest July 4th celebration. Come on out and celebrate Independence Day with a spectacular fireworks display along the Inner Harbor on July 4th. Merriment and live music will be on hand at the Baltimore Fourth of July Celebration, which is held at the Inner Harbor Amphitheater, located at Light & Pratt streets. This event will kick off at 7:00 pm. The U.S. Navy Cruisers Band begins at 7:00 pm in the amphitheater. The fireworks are set to begin at 9:30 pm.
The Horseshoe Casino in Baltimore will be hosting their Red, White & Bar-B-Que bash July 4 from 2:00 pm – 7:00 pm at their Outdoor Plaza. The all-you-can-drink, dine and dance event will feature a DJ and live music with The Kelly Bell Band and Night at the Fillmore. Your entrance fee includes a take-home Horseshoe Casino Festival Chair, endless draft beer, a BBQ Buffet with delicious food from Guy’s Bar-B-Que Joint, live entertainment, free parking and a shuttle service to watch Inner Harbor fireworks. If you prefer a non-alcoholic, family fun event then the Picnic at the Top is for you. A spectacular view 360-degree panoramic view of Baltimore City and the Inner Harbor fireworks can be had at the Top of the World Observation Level in the World Trade Center. Their Picnic at the Top event takes place Saturday, July 4, 2015 from 7:30 to 10:00 pm. Visitors will be able to take in the view of Baltimore’s Inner Harbor and festive firework celebration from 27 floors above ground level. This celebration offers food, beverages, children’s activities, a live DJ and photo booth. Tickets are $50 for adults, $25 for children, and are available here.
Looking for a pet-friendly Fourth of July activity? The American Visionary Art Museum welcomes all patriotic pooches and pets to their annual Visionary Pet Parade. It’s billed as the “Butt Sniffing, Trick Turning, Leg Lifting, Heart and Spirit Healthy Costumed and Festooned” pet event of the summer. All types of friendly pets of are welcome. Don’t forget to dress up your pet! Trophies will be awarded for Best Costume, Most Patriotic, Most Visionary Pet, Owner & Pet look-alikes, Least likely to succeed as a Pet, Visionary Pet Tricks and more. There will also be a Pet Talent (Or Not) Show. Sit and stay for an exciting game of pet musical chairs. All pets attending the event must be leashed or carried. Water and baggies will be provided. If a more refined scene is more your style, The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra will be heading to Oregon Ridge Park in Cockeysville for A Star Spangled Spectacular. Picnic on the lawn and bring your chairs and your blankets. There will be two performances. One on July 3 and another on July 4. Both will be at 8:00 pm and will feature patriotic favorites, such as Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture and Sousa’s Stars and Stripes Forever, as well as fireworks. Tickets prices are $20 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under and can be purchased here. Delicious fare will be on hand from local food trucks. No glass, grills or pets are permitted inside park. Free Shuttle Parking will be available at the Verizon lot on Shawan Road, directly across from the Hunt Valley Town Centre, and you can ride the shuttle bus to the park. Parking permits can be purchased in advance at the Meyerhoff ticket office for $12 or at the lot for $15. Special Assistance Parking is available for concertgoers with special needs, just park in assigned spaces with your pre-paid parking ticket and a valid disabled parking permit.
