Toolah sunglasses from Native Eyewear are a good choice for women who spend time outdoors whether paddling the waters of Lake Tahoe, skiing the slopes around the lake or traveling to far off lands. Those shiny surfaces reflect bright light that can cause discomfort and damage to sensitive eye tissue in the high alpine environment. Native Eyewear has incorporated a great deal of technology and styling to create sunglasses that fit well, protect the eyes and are comfortable enough to wear all day.
Toolah sunglasses with Tigers Eye frames and N3 Bronze Reflex lenses were tested in a variety of conditions ranging from skiing at Squaw Valley to hiking in the Granite Chief Wilderness. They were also used while traveling to the mountains of Peru and beaches of Hawaii.
In bright, sunny conditions donning the glasses brought immediate relief to squinting, providing soothing relief to strained eyes. Contrast on snow and water was excellent, as well as dappled shade on hiking trails that can sometimes obscure obstacles. The frames were feather light, didn’t press too hard above the ears and sat softly on the nose. The cushioned nose piece was especially comfortable. The author’s head is small and many glasses are too large, causing them to slide forward when the head is tilted. The Toolah’s were well proportioned and sat securely in place even with vigorous activity. The hard case was often used for storage when traveling but sometimes, to save space, the soft pouch was used for backpacking. The glasses tolerated a fair amount of bumping around without sustaining any damage.
All Native glasses block 100% UV A&B rays, even their clear lenses. The N3 lenses used in the Toolah block up to four times more infrared light than regular polarized lenses and provide UV protection up to 400nm. In addition, by reducing blue light and selectively filtering UV light, they deliver high contrast, good definition, and sharp visual acuity. The lenses pass ANSI Z87.1 testing to protect from small projectiles and fragments.
The Co-Injected Rhyno-Tuff Air Frames are lightweight and comfortable and the Toolah styling is designed to be feminine and chic. The glasses are durable, standing up to being buffeted around in purses, backpacks and bags without damage. Temple grips and mastoid pads are made of a soft cushiony material that keeps glasses securely in place. Cam action hinges allow the arms to snap firmly in place. The fit profile is for small or medium faces.
About Native Eyewear
Native Eyewear, based in mile-high Denver where the deleterious effects of ultraviolet (UVA and UVB) light are even more pronounced than at sea level, has focused on technology, comfort and styling to improve sunglass lenses. They support the outdoor community all across the US with diverse projects such as Locals Only, where they focus on one outdoor community each year and the new Road Tour, where a Native rig is cruising America’s highways in search of adventures that locals know best.
All Native Eyewear sunglasses are backed by a lifetime warranty. Manufacturer defects are covered for one year, but even better, replacement glasses can be obtained for just $30 for damage, even things like Fido teething on glasses, with proof of purchase. Just return to the Native facility (not the store where they were purchased).
Toolah sunglasses are well-suited to small, female faces, have a comfortable all-day fit, are soothing to the eyes and durable enough to take some abuse while traveling.
