It only took one day for TLC to begin responding to the allegations over Josh Duggar molestation allegations. The hit family show “19 Kids and Counting” is not currently in production. Filming of new episodes are on hold until the network makes their final decision whether to allow the show to continue despite the news that has hit the airways or to cancel the show entirely in a similar manner as they did when molestation issues were brought to light over another reality television program, “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo”. The Washington Post shared the news yesterday that all the episodes of “19 Kids and Counting” have been pulled and won’t be airing.
The TLC network issued a statement Friday: “Effective immediately, TLC has pulled all episodes of “19 Kids and Counting” currently from the air. We are deeply saddened and troubled by this heartbreaking situation, and our thoughts and prayers are with the family and victims at this difficult time.” The fate of the show is anybody’s guess at this point. No definite decision has been made whether the show will go on or be cancelled permanently. The program was set to air reruns after the director yelled, “It’s a wrap” after the last season was filmed.
Devoted fans were split between reading the news and watching the marathon of reruns that were airing while the story of this scandal took over the Internet. TLC, it seems hasn’t even recovered from the controversy over June Shannon and her relationship with McDaniel allegedly molesting one of her daughters. This stir caused the network to cancel the show. Mama June was threatening a lawsuit against them if the show wasn’t cancelled. Now it looks like she won’t be going to court because the Duggar family reality show was pulled.
The situations of these two families are entirely different, but Mama June was hoping for the same end results. She claimed that because Josh is part of the show and appears periodically they shouldn’t continue airing the program. On the other hand, her show shouldn’t have been cancelled since McDaniel never was part of the show, nor did he ever have an appearance on the show. She also argued the point as to go as far as saying she never molested anyone unlike Josh Duggar, who was indeed part of the reality program, “19 Kids and Counting” and felt that she may have been cheated by the media and the network.
None of the Duggar family members have yet to comment on their show being pulled from TLC. Their show is part of a foundation of TLC known for family friendly shoes and last February’s eighth season premiere was the highest-rated premiere they’ve had so far. Many Twitter uses were upset after hearing the allegations and learning that the network was airing a marathon of reruns of the show simultaneously.
Do you think all will be forgiven or swept under the rug and the family reality show will be back filming and airing once again on TLC?
