With Deputy Ben Fields out of the job and possibly facing additional legal issues from the horrific incident at Spring Valley high school, South Carolina, it is time to turn into the root cause of high school malignant behaviors that seem to get worse each year. Teens have turned into unruly and obnoxious battalion determined to curve off a piece of earth for themselves without order or norms. They see this as a cool behavior and show-off not to follow or adhere to conventional laid out school rules which govern everyone, including their teachers and even district officials, who by the way are the main authors, emitters, and custodians. Why are these teens so obnoxious?
Because of three things; “television”, “lack of parental discipline”, and most importantly, “failure of society to institute uniforms in high schools.” The teen who started the drama by ignoring and refusing to heed the teacher’s orders should be expelled from Spring Valley high school, because her behavior that day caused traumatic effect in other students resulting in total disruption for the classroom order. Whatever happened to “there’s time for everything?” Student should never be allowed to bring phones into classrooms, instead they should be stored securely in personal lockers. It is obvious this student has behavior syndrome if she was stubborn enough not to obey school administrator who is a Black American, like her. Not that it matters but it eliminates the “race card” from this equations and further demonstrates how teens have gotten rotten in behavior.
Television is a major source of moral decadence among teens and even adults who do not use it for its purpose. There are many shows and programs on television should never have time slots. They teach violence and catalyst immoral behavior on top of super stores spending hundreds of millions of dollars in ads targeting these teens on how they should look cool from head to toe. They flood them with fashion after fashion in there own phobia competition for young people market size. Parents cannot keep up with super velocity of frenzy turn-over for fashions season after season. More reasons society should come to terms that uniform is the way to go.
Parents seem to have given up enforcing parental rules like in the old days. Society is distressed due to economic melt-down which created housing collapse, companies reorganization and cut down, global competition resulting in layoffs and many other external factors that have strained family into the core of their cradle. This may sound far fetched argument but it is a relevant factor to show why some parents are not available full time to discipline their children. Plus, make more money to cover for the school year fashions. Teens nowadays do not know their chores and do not give a damn as long as they have a cell phone, computer and television, of course, which they do not pay for. In the old days parents gave instructions ones and that was the order, failure to follow them resulted in consequences that will lock up a parent for years these days. In a way government has contributed to these teen behavior decay.
Society should seriously consider school uniform to instill some sense to these teens who have gone out of control. They have no respect for adults nor proper social behavior etiquette which, in most part, govern the order of the day. For instance, they do not care for public courtesy ordinances like giving up designated seats for the seniors in public transportation buses or passenger light rails as longer as they are busy scanning their phones and reading loudly text messages accompanied with awkward giggles to the annoyance of other passengers. Here is what uniforms might do;
- they will improve school culture by creating positive learning environment
- improve school safety
- improve classroom behavior (and not get distracted with phones)
- reduce competition to fit-in and level self-awareness playing ground
- eliminate clothing competition and allow affordability in uniforms
- enhance grades and score improvement
- and most important will eliminate bullying because uniforms will create a sense of belonging verses being picked on.
Unless the society confront this issue teens will grow to adulthood without sense of responsibilities with a “don’t care attitude” which will adversely affect nationalism.
