November is here – the days get dark earlier and winter lurks around the corner. It’s almost time to celebrate the blessings of the past year and say ‘thank you.’ Thanksgiving is almost upon us and there are plenty of options to celebrate.
Boston’s 5-star Mandarin Oriental Hotel, for example, lets you escape the hassles of meal preparation with a prepared Thanksgiving Day Feast. It is available for pick-up on Thursday, November 26, from 11 A.M. to 6 P.M. for $550 (serves four to six guests) or $900 (serves ten to twelve guests); pricing excludes service fees. Orders will be accepted through November 23.
The feast includes assorted seasonal selections such as oven-roasted organic turkey served with traditional natural jus gravy and citrus-infused Mandarin orange and cranberry chutney, savory stuffing with roasted chestnuts and spiced pork sausage, baked Gloucester lobster mac & cheese, truffle-infused potato purée, and a seasonal green bean and carrot vegetable medley.
In addition, there’s a brown butter sable encrusted pumpkin pie and signature selection of seasonally inspired petite tarts made by Pastry Chef Robert Differ.
The Mandarin will also offer special pastry classes Dec. 6 and Dec. 12, Sundays, where you can learn to create your own Büche de Noel starting with your own pre-rolled one from Chef Robert Diller to serve as a canvas for your unique culinary touches. There will be a glass of complimentary prosecco or cup of hot cocoa awaiting you when you arrive and the class focuses on the fun of decorating the pre-rolled Büche without going through measuring and mixing ingredients. Each participant receives the recipe to create it at home and their baked dessert to take home. The cost is $85 per person. Reservations can be made through Eventbrite.
