On Saturday night (August 17), Tim McGraw played his first solo show in Nashville in six years, but that wasn’t the only noteworthy thing that occurred during the evening. McGraw brought out multiple guests on stage with him to perform various hits from his back catalog, including support acts Chase Bryant (‘Felt Good On My Lips’), and Billy Currington (‘I Like It, I Love It’), and Catherine Dunn, McGraw’s cousin, who sang her part in his last single ‘Diamond Rings & Old Barstools’. Chris Janson also came to the stage for a duet rendition of his hit ‘Buy Me A Boat’.
But that wasn’t all. McGraw also brought wife Faith Hill out for a special surprise performance of their #1 hit ‘It’s Your Love’ from 1997, a track written by Stephony Smith. The song reached #7 on the Billboard Hot 100 that year as well as the top spot on Hot Country Songs, and won a CMA Award, four ACM Awards and two Grammy nominations. So it was understandably a huge hit with fans when McGraw begin singing the 18-year-old song alone, never mind when Hill started singing harmonies from backstage and eventually moved into the spotlight for a stellar duet. The couple shared a kiss at the end, reminding us how valuable true love is in the wake of so many high-profile country divorces recently.
Born the same year ‘It’s Your Love’ was released, McGraw’s daughter Gracie is also turning out to be quite the star. She appeared on stage Saturday night to sing a new song with her father entitled ‘Here Tonight’, which he hinted would appear on his next album. Whether the studio version will include his daughter on vocals or not remains to be seen, but if so it’s sure to be a hit. With a similarly husky but powerful voice to her mother, Gracie sounds like she could be a huge star in the making. Still, her potentially bright future didn’t detract from dorky dancing with her dad, and that makes her pretty lovable in our eyes.
Gracie’s 14-year-old sister Audrey is also incredibly talented, proven last year at a VIP event for her father, when she performed ‘Travelin’ Soldier’ by the Dixie Chicks.
Tim McGraw has just released his brand new lead single ‘Top of The World’ to country radio, following the huge success of his last album ‘Sundown Heaven Town’. Faith Hill, meanwhile, recently celebrated the 10-year anniversary of her acclaimed album ‘Fireflies’, the last original studio album she released. In previous years she has sent singles to country radio (‘Come Home’, ‘American Heart’), reaching the top 30 in both cases, but a resulting album did not emerge.
