Orlando is the land of hotels; Universal Orlando Resort currently has four on site, and there are others all around the resort, out on I-Drive, and everywhere in the tourist area. Should you stay somewhere a little but far flung or spring the extra money to say at Universal? I’m lucky enough to be a local, but if I weren’t, here are the reasons why I’d choose one of Universal’s hotels for Halloween Horror Nights:
1) You can stay out as long as you like. Halloween Horror Nights runs into the wee hours on certain nights, but it’s a pain if you have to drive somewhere far when it’s all over. How much nicer it is to get to your room within mere minutes via foot, boat, or bus, and crash immediately. If you plan to close down the park each night of your visit, staying on site is extremely convenient.
2) You can drink as much as you like. Let’s face it, drinking is a major sport at Halloween Horror Nights. I’m all about the haunted houses and I have to drive, so I generally drink just a modest amount. However, I always noticed that many people use it as a chance to party and get quite intoxicated. There’s nothing wrong with that if you behave yourself when you drink and if you don’t get behind the wheel afterward. If you stay at a Universal hotel, you can walk back or take a boat or bus with no worries.
3) You can see the parks in the daytime more efficiently. Most of the Universal hotels, with the exception of Cabana Bay, give you free Express Pass access to almost all of the rides at Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure. If you’ve never been to Universal before, that ensures that you’ll have a chance to see and do everything in the daytime with minimal waits. Yes, some of the Universal Studios rides are open during Halloween Horror Nights, but don’t waste your time with something you can do at any time. Stick to the event shows and haunted houses! If you’ve already been to the parks and are not interested in the Express Passes, opt for Cabana Bay. It gives you all the convenience of the other hotels at a less expensive rate. I promise it has plenty of amenities, including amazing pools and even a bowling alley, so you definitely won’t feel like you’re in the “cheap seats.”
These three reasons don’t even include the many special packages and offers from the Universal hotels. Visit the official Halloween Horror Nights website for more details.
