“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.” Hebrews 6:19
As children of God our Christian faith sustains us. It is what keeps us going despite the chaos that may surround us. It is what drives us to show love to both our friends and our enemies. And most importantly it is what saves us by giving us the opportunity to have a relationship with the most powerful, merciful, and loving God our Father Jesus Christ. As children of God we know the importance of holding our belief close and making it a top priority in our lives.
Of course we are not perfect, and that is okay because we are not supposed to be. 2 Corinthians 12:9 states, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” We will mess up and we will go through good times and bad times. What is important is that we do not give up. We must not lose heart but keep on believing and living out the Word of God no matter what the world throws at us. John 16:33 states, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” Be encouraged and remember to keep the faith.
It may be your immediate family, extended family, and/or the family you married into that you hold close to your heart. Whatever the case, family is something that we should value and cherish with each day that passes. I could not imagine my life without my parents, brothers and sisters. I could not be more grateful for the family I married into. And the gratitude that I have for my husband and baby girl goes beyond words. Without all of this family I would not be where I am today or the person I am today. Family shapes us and influences us in numerous ways.
Now we all know family can go through its ups and downs. Times may not always be good. However, I urge you not to stay focused on the bad but on the good. Sure there may be arguments and disagreements, but at the end of the day hopefully your family still has your back. I do not know everyone’s situation but I do know that my life is much fuller with my family by my side. I pray and hope the same for you.
We may laugh, cry, and at times share precious moments with our friends. Just like with our family, the relationship with our friends should also be treasured. Having friends to go through life with you is a huge blessing. Some may be with you in particular stages of life while others may have been with you for quite some time, either way having these connections I believe is a crucial part of our lives. Reflecting on my friendships, both past and present, puts a smile on my face. I can remember ones that have strengthened me and made me grow in tremendous ways. I can think of ones where I have needed a shoulder to cry on and other bonds where I have laughed so much we ended up in tears. I don’t know your particular situation but I do believe friends should be part of your life. So if you have them keep them close and if you don’t I pray God open doors to bring the right ones into your life.
