You’ve toasted in the New Year, and, you might even have your holiday decorations down and put away for another year, and, now it’s time to get back to the grind, and, your full focus is on your modeling career. Most models aspire to walk a runway in New York or Paris during Fashion Week, but, did you know second and third tier cities such as Las Vegas and Charleston also hold Fashion Weeks, and, these shows are an excellent way to gain experience, and, possibly even be offered a modeling contract.
Two good sources for learning more about fashion shows and modeling opportunities in second and third tier cities are Backstage (free 14 day trial) and Model Management. Just do research before you apply for the jobs. If you receive a call or email to attend a live casting, make sure you follow the instructions to the letter. (Meaning if the casting states models must wear high heals, jeans and a tank top, don’t show up in a dress!) And, be ready for lots of competition for just a few available slots.
