‘Adam’ (Justin Hartley) wasn’t in prison for long. Despite the snarky phone conversation ‘Judge Moxley’ (Jensen Buchanan) had with ‘Victor’ (Eric Braeden) a few hours before rendering her verdict, she still delivered for the ‘Junior Dark Knight’. However, ‘Adam’s life is never smooth. So, viewers are right to wonder what clouds will form above him in the near future on ‘The Young and the Restless’?
This judge can claim whatever she likes, but ‘Victor’s’ blackmail scheme clearly influenced ‘Adam’s’ fate. Having a 10-year sentence reduced to five years probation and 1000 hours of community service didn’t result because ‘Abby’ (Melissa Ordway) was that convincing as a surprise witness for her brother’s defense.
It appears that ‘Moxley’ wants ‘Victor’ to believe that he has no hold over her. Why else would she have urged him to go public about their past personal connection, but still dramatically reduce ‘Adam’s’ original sentence? Of course, there have been others who were pressured by ‘Victor’ and also wore a similar false front. No one should blame ‘Moxley’ for attempting to retain her dignity through an unconfirmed compromise, while also sending a message to the ‘Mustache’ that no further favors will be granted.
So, after more than two years in real and soap time, ‘Adam’ is free to be with ‘Chelsea’ (Melissa Claire Egan) and ‘Connor’ (Gunner and Ryder Gadbois) again. Seasoned soap viewers, or recent devotees, surely knew that Harley’s character was certain to reclaim his life at some point. Now the focus will shift to how long he can stay out of trouble before daddy dearest needs to rescue him again. Unless, of course, daddy is the trouble he can’t escape?
