Blues are all around us as usual this coming weekend in the Atlanta area. As hard as it is to believe, we are at the end of September and October begins on Thursday. That means that there isn’t information yet for some of our favorite venues, like Fat Matt’s and Blind Willie’s, for the later part of the week. They just haven’t made the next month’s schedule available yet. So if you don’t see your favorite clubs listed after Wednesday, call the venues for information!
One special treat among the numerous great shows this week is Lucinda Williams’ two-night stint at Variety Playhouse. The chance to see this marvelous singer/songwriter in this beloved venue could add up to something unforgettable.
Also, this week, pay attention to The Georgia Flood at Fat Matt’s on Wednesday. This young group is starting to get the attention they deserve and playing around town and elsewhere more and more. Even though the younger of the two brothers in the group, Brooks Mason, is still in his late teens, this group has the stage presence and skill of much older musicians. They are a group that helps show that the future of the blues is in good hands.
