Imagine a small dance music and arts festival taking place in the heart of Atlanta. For two days, you are surrounded by great music, cool people and awesome vibes, all set in a fantastical underwater theme. Are you picturing it? Good. Now, it’s time to make it your reality: Imagine Music Festival returns August 29-30.
With three stages and a full lineup of EDM acts the likes of Dada Life, Datsik, The Glitch Mob, Griz, Lil Jon, Morgan Page and Crystal Method, along with a ton of local and regional talent, the anticipation is building as music fans count down the days until IMF 2015. The weekend-long festival will also includes the Imagine Visionary Arts Village, yoga, poi and flow arts classes, the Imagine Festival Ocean View VIP Deck, as well as delicious eats, free water stations and plenty of bars. Onstage and roaming performers will add to the festival experience, as the Iris Girls wander the crowd to keep the vibe happy and welcoming.
Founded by Iris Presents, Imagine Music Festival will once again take place in the combined venues of Historic Fourth Ward Park, Masquerade Music Park and Clear Creek Basin, where beautiful water features play perfectly with the underwater theme. IMF brings in top of the line sound and lighting production, which are cast against the backdrop of the Atlanta skyline. This non-camping festival also makes parking and transportation to the grounds a breeze with the use of a shuttle.
After a very successful first year, Imagine Music Festival 2015 looks promising to be even better than before, which is no easy task given the previous year’s flawless execution. I interviewed Imagine Music Festival’s Glenn (Founder and CEO) and Madeleine Goodhand (Co-founder and President) to get the details.
Examiner: In just one year, Imagine Music Festival has become one of the most buzzed about music festivals in the EDM scene. How would you attribute that success?
IMF: Wow, that is a great compliment. Thank you! We wanted to create a festival that was entirely about the festival-goer. Everyone had a great time: the vibe and energy felt that weekend transcended the festival and left people wanting more. We encourage participation and artistic expression by everyone; that participation becomes an integral part of the show itself, thus creating a truly magical experience.
Examiner: What are some new and improved features for IMF 2015?
IMF: We kept what people loved and added more performers, production and atmospheres to make the experience even more immersive. We have an entire circus-troupe and roaming performers covering the festival grounds to interact with. We continued to challenge ourselves to curate another sensational lineup. The stages are more elaborate, and we have added additional cooling areas to beat the heat. Wander over to the “Lost City of Imaginarium,” also new this year, where you can enjoy a visionary art village, free yoga, poi and meditation. There is also a new VIP Experience called the Ocean View VIP Deck that offers premium bottle service and exclusive performances. Our other surprises you will have to wait and see for yourself.
Examiner: What makes Imagine Music Festival different from other festivals?
IMF: We are one of the few remaining independent festivals; you feel this difference at the event. The lineup is not your standard cookie cutter lineup. We take extra care in curating an intelligent and unique lineup with several surprising acts and a real focus on music discovery.
Examiner: Where do you see IMF going in the future?
IMF: The customer experience is our number one priority. We hope to grow and continue to improve on the event by adding more atmospheres, experiences and talent. As we grow, it is important our festival goers feel comfortable and always have short wait times, clean bathrooms and convenient access to the festival. We see a long future ahead for Imagine and are excited about the possibilities.
