With Nina Dobrev gone from “The Vampire Diaries,” the show has taken things in a new direction and is focusing on other characters. Last season, Alaric’s pregnant fiance was murdered as she was walking down the aisle. As “TVD” fans saw last week, Alaric and Bonnie used the Phoenix stone to resurrect Jo. The only problem is that the person inside her body is not Jo, but somebody else. Actress Jodi Lyn O’Keefe talked about the “big Jo reveal.” There are also spoilers for “The Vampire Diaries” season 7 regarding Julian and the “three years later” storyline. On Nov. 9, PopSugar revealed some details on what “TVD” fans can expect.
First things first, let’s talk about the big Jo reveal. It is easy to understand why Alaric didn’t destroy the Phoenix stone and was determined to bring Jo back. However, all “TVD” fans knew that it was too good to be true. Bonnie, who is usually the voice of reason, surprised viewers when she went along with Alaric’s plan. A few consequences have been revealed so far, but it shouldn’t surprise fans if there are more serious, possibly fatal, consequences later on. It just doesn’t seem like the Phoenix stone story is over.
As for how Jodi Lyn O’Keefe describes the big Jo reveal, she summed it up perfectly. The actress told TV Line that Jo’s life right now is about discovering herself. Jo will try to figure out her identity, where she came from and what is going on. O’Keefe added, “It’s like a baby being born.” That analogy of a newborn baby is exactly how a lot of “TVD” fans see Jo right now, too. The way Jo looks at everything, the questions she asks, even the way she moves reminds one of a small child, discovering things for the very first time.
As for Julian, Lily Salvatore’s “man crush,” he is very much alive. “The Vampire Diaries” season 7, episode 6, titled “Best Served Cold,” there will be a dinner party. Lily wants to celebrate the fact that Julian has woken up from a 100-year nap and is alive. However, Damon and Stefan are not in the mood to celebrate. The Salvatore brothers want to kill Julian and the promo shows Lily’s special guest knocking someone out.
What about the scenes in “The Vampire Diaries” showing the characters three years in the future? There is some information on that, as well. First, Damon Salvatore put himself to sleep in a coma. He only wanted to be awakened when Elena’s slumber was over. However, Stefan wakes him up earlier because of a woman hunting them with a crossbow.
Fans also know that three years in the future, Caroline and Stefan are not together. In fact, Caroline wants nothing to do with her vampire ex-boyfriend. She has moved on with her life, working in Texas at a news station, has an assistant and is engaged to someone else.
Speaking of relationships, in the future, Alaric has twin daughters. When Jo was killed, she was pregnant with twins, but as PopSugar pointed out, the timeline and aging doesn’t seem quite right. If it’s three years in the future, Alaric’s children don’t look like they are three. In fact, they seem older, four or perhaps five years old.
Plus, if the Phoenix stone didn’t bring back Jo, but someone else, who do these children belong to? The person inside Jo’s body or does he end up with someone else? Perhaps they are adopted or Alaric finds out he has kids from a previous relationship? Fans did sense that Damon was angry with Alaric, that his life was going perfectly. It makes one wonder what Alaric did to get everything he wanted, as Damon said in a previous episode.
Finally, the most bizarre thing of all is that three years later, Bonnie and Enzo are a couple. That is something that nobody saw coming. During the history of “The Vampire Diaries,” the two never really talked that much. How they ended up together is a mystery and fans aren’t sure how they feel about it.
The next episode of “The Vampire Diaries” airs Thursday on the CW. What do you think is going to happen with the characters? What are your observations on the “three years later” storyline?
