“The Vampire Diaries” season 7 premiers on the CW network in only three weeks. Even though fans are not certain what will happen, one thing is for sure: Nina Dobrev will not appear. This will open up more storylines and circumstances for existing characters and the possibility of introducing new ones. Two characters that people want to know more about are Damon and Bonnie. According to the Christian Post on Sept. 15, fans can expect Damon and Bonnie to get closer in “The Vampire Diaries” season 7.
Last season, Dobrev’s character, Elena, was put under a six-decade sleeping spell so Bonnie could live. As one can imagine, Damon will blame Bonnie for Elena’s absence. So what will happen with Bonnie in “The Vampire Diaries” season 7? Executive producer Julie Plec told Entertainment Weekly that Bonnie will have survivor’s remorse. However, she doesn’t believe she should be punished for surviving, either. Bonnie will stand up to anyone that tries to make her feel guilty for surviving.
Even though Damon may blame Bonnie, he won’t hate her. When Damon and Bonnie were trapped on the Other Side, they bonded, almost becoming friends. In season 7 of “The Vampire Diaries,” Plec said to expect them to become closer and develop a strong friendship. Bonnie will support Damon as he tries to deal with losing Elena even though she bears the responsibility for it. Plec said,
“Bonnie has sort of taken it upon herself to be the uninvited chaperone, which is funny because she and Damon have so much unspoken between them — the guilt, the resentments, the gratitude, there’s a list of things they’re dealing with.”
Some fans expect Damon and Bonnie to get closer despite the sacrifice Elena made. There were rumors that the two would have a romance, but so far, those have been shut down by producers. As for the Dobrev leaving “The Vampire Diaries,” the show should still be amazing. Even though Elena was a major part of the series, there are other characters and more stories to be told.
The CW premieres “The Vampire Diaries” on Oct. 8.
