On a crisp Friday morning, I received a delivery from the good folks at Ford, as I make my way down stairs and head over down the street, I see a red object that looks like a beautiful bullet and or rocket ship. When I approach I see the car that I have admired for year right in front of me, I couldn’t believe how amazing it looked in person. The 2015 Ford Mustang GT Convertible is and was everything I expected and more.
The first thing I did was get inside the car, turn on the engine and let the roar of the engine penetrate my soul for a minute, at that moment the mustang and I became one. She knew me and I knew her, we would be inseparable for the next ten days. I couldn’t wait to hit the highway and it just so happens that particular week was around 80 degrees so that drop top and me were going to get acquainted for sure. I felt every bit of the 5.0L V8 and 435 Horsepower once behind the wheel. Hitting the highway felt like freedom, my nephew who was a passenger on a couple of occasions vowed to make the mustang a future purchase, he was in love. Everywhere I drove, heads turned and people nodded in acceptance. The Mustang is quite the machine, its muscle and masculinity in its highest form, it also goes from 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds (according to Motor Trend)
Although aesthetically the mustang is a dream, it also has practical functionality, take a look at some of the important features:
16 city / 25 hwy / 19 combined (automatic)
Independent Rear Suspension
The integral link independent rear suspension delivers precise handling
BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross-Traffic Alert
The available BLIS® with cross-traffic alert10 helps make driving more convenient. It uses radar to identify if a vehicle is detected in your blind spot and alerts you with an indicator light in the appropriate exterior mirror. Cross-traffic alert also uses radar to watch for traffic behind you as you’re slowly backing out of a parking spot or driveway.
Shaker Pro Audio with HD Radio
The 390-Watt Shaker Pro Audio System with HD Radio Technology is optional on EcoBoost® Premium and GT Premium models. The audio system includes an AM/FM stereo, single-CD/MP3 player and 12 speakers including an eight-inch subwoofer, which has been smartly mounted in the trunk without sacrificing storage space. With HD Radio Technology, FM stations have CD-quality sound and AM stations sound like FM stations. Reception is crystal clear, with no audio distortion, buzz, popping or static.
6-Speed SelectShift® Automatic transmission with paddle shifters
The available six-speed SelectShift® Automatic transmission features paddle shifters on the steering wheel that enable you to override automatic operation and enjoy the fun-to drive performance feel of a manual with control over gear selection.
Illuminated entry An image of a Mustang lights the ground at night as you enter the vehicle
Individual Tire Pressure Monitoring System
Remote keyless entry
The 2015 Mustang GT Convertible, will forever be in my top cars I’ve ever driven. Of course with all the awesomeness tied to the car, there’s also some negatives, NYC roads proved too much for the tires as I encountered a leak in one of the front tires but thanks to the Tire Pressure Monitoring System, I was able to make sure I was driving with the proper amount of tire pressure. The Mustang is not great on gas but honestly if a Mustang is something you’re seriously considering, gas mileage wont be part of your equation. Overall, I give the GT a 4 out of 5.
