Life choices are crucial and those choices affect the outcome upon which are life is built and founded upon. The Word of God has a lot to say about choices and how those choices affect our lives as well as our salvation. Jesus said that those who choose to believe in Him and confess their sins shall be saved. He went on to say that when we choose Him as Lord of our lives, we are then becoming wise builders, building on the Rock of God.
“Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.” (Matthew 7:24,25 NKJV).
Jesus said that the way to Truth is narrow while the way to destruction is wide and many are those who go in by it. The world is vast in size as well as population and the vast majority of the world are none believers. When we seek advice from the world, whether it be pop stars, politicians, or Oprah Winfrey, we must understand that these people follow the ways of the world and have built their house on the sand.
“But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand; and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.” (Matthew 7:26,27).
The only wisdom and advice we can truly benefit from and choose is the Word of God. If we choose the ways and advice of the world, our end is headed towards bitterness. Only because the mass love these false teachers and idols and they have obtained great wealth does not mean that we should follow. Jesus said to follow Him, not Him and the famous non believer.
“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” (John 10:27).
The question to ask ourselves is “who are we building our foundation upon?” The sands of the world or the Rock that is Christ? Let us all seek to have each brick of our house the Word of God be built upon the foundation that is eternal and the wisdom that is true.
“Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6).
