The No Boyz Allowed League had an exciting regular season (August 2015-September 2015). All teams qualified for the play-offs, but one opted not to participate.
Lady Soldier’z (Bishop Loughlin High School from New York) ended the regular season undefeated with a record of 14-0. Even though they were challenged twice by one of the best teams in New Jersey, Saint John Vianney (Playing under the name The Karpell Effect), nothing kept the Lady Soldier’z from their strong trapping defense and fast-breaking game. They earned the first seed.
The Jewel’z of Gladstone (Gill Saint Bernard) finished with a record of 12-2. They play a disciplined outside and inside game. Point guard Samanatha Kramer does not miss from the outside. Her laser-sharp passes assist the posts easily. They were placed in the 2nd seed.
The Diamond Girl’z (Rutgers Prep) finishe with a record of 12-2 as well. Every player can dribble, push the ball up the court, shoot, and play strong defense. They were placed in the 3rd seed.
Locked & Lodied (Immaculate Conception High School) finished 11-3. In comparison to last year’s squad, Locked and Lodied has a lot of new faces. They have strong outside shooters and can pressure ball-handlers well. They were placed in the 4th seed.
The Karpell Effect (Saint John Vianney) also finished with a record of 11-3. Blogger David Prown said it best when he wrote, “Most of the .500 teams would bring a majority of their likely high school season starters most every night. With that said, with SJV [finishing with a record of] 11-3 and bringing, on average, only 1-2 starters per night, simply speaks to their level of depth and talent.” They were placed in the 5th seed.
The Warrior’z (Franklin High School) also ended with a record of 11-3. They are aggressive and strong and hit the boards hard. They know how to rebound, outlet, and finish. They were placed in the 6th seed.
Trained To Go (The Patrick School) finished with a record of 10-4. Freshman starting guard Kelina Menard adds a strong outside shot and quick defender to this line-up. Quadasha Hoppie is good at slashing through the lane and distributing. They received the 7th seed.
The Big Cat’z (Staten Island Academy) finished with a record of 8-6. This team is a lot stronger than they were last year. They can patiently work the ball around and look for outside shots. They also play strong help defense. They seeded 8th.
Team Dre’ (Piscataway High School) finished with a record of 7-7. Team Dre’ is aggressive and quick-hitting. They combine strength and speed. They were given the 9th seed.
Talia’z Crew (Curtis High School) also finished with a record of 7-7. Although their record does not reflect it, they had some close games with some of the stronger teams in the league. They are also good at hitting the boards. They were given the 10th seed.
Lead By Toro (Medgar Evers High School from New York) ended with a record of 6-8. This team lost some nail biter games that put them under .500. They are a tall team who can give any team a game. They were seeded 11th.
The KJ Kidz (Newark Tech High School) also had a record of 6-8. Although they have three strong players returning from last year, their team looks relatively young and new. They have five freshmen, led by center Mariah Perez, who earn major minutes on the court. With time this team is going to be tough to beat. They seeded 12th.
Bulldog Nation (Shabazz High School) also had a record of 6-8. Danni Paterson and Caitlyn Towns are the driving force behind this team. Danni Paterson is so explosive and versatile she can drive and score on any defense. Caitlyn Towns has stepped up as the team’s point guard and outside shooter. They seeded 13th.
Felicia’z Flow (Matawan) and The Cotton Club (Arts High School) both finished with a record of 3-11. They received the 14th and 15th seeds. A Little Bit of Luck (Castle/Yung & Tha Restless AAU) finished with a record of 2-12, came in 16th, but opted not to play in the play-offs. Best of the Best (Lincoln High School) has opted to play in their place as the 16th seed.
One of the biggest highlights of the season will be the No Boyz Allowed League All-Star Game that will take place on Thursday, October 1, 2015, at 7:30pm in Elizabeth, NJ.
