The upcoming holiday season brings with it opportunities to be merry and jolly. In keeping with that idea, the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey closes its 53rd season with “The Merry Wives of Windsor” by William Shakespeare. Directed by Artistic Director Bonnie J. Monte, it will run from Dec. 2 – Dec. 27, 2015 at the F.M. Kirby Shakespeare Theatre, 36 Madison Avenue in Madison, New Jersey. Ms. Monte said, “I want this production of ‘The Merry Wives of Windsor’ to be my thank-you gift to our wonderful audience. I hope it feels like a delightful feast of theatrical sugar plums and comedic candy that culminates in a glittering final act of fantastical surprises, convivial holiday spirit and celebration.”
“The Merry Wives of Windsor” is a rowdy, bawdy domestic comedy, featuring the roguish Sir John Falstaff. It is a hilarious tale of marital hijinks (and low-jinks!), and will delight both young and old. The clever wives of Windsor put everyone to the test in this festive cornucopia of colorful characters, holiday spirit, and glittering merriment.
The Cast includes David Andrew Macdonald who plays the role of Falstaff, Matt Sullivan as Master Ford, Caralyn Kozlowski as Mistress Alice Ford, Saluda as Mistress Margaret Page, and Ames Adamson as Sir Hugh Evans. Also cast are Jon Barker as Doctor Caius, Kristie Dale Sanders as Mistress Quickly, Joey Collins as George Page, Raphael Nash Thompson as the Host of the Garter Inn, David Cryer as Robert Shallow and Jonathan Finnegan as Abraham Slender.
The Creative/Artistic Staff for “The Merry Wives of Windsor” includes scenic designer Jonathan Wentz, costume designer Yao Chen, lighting designer Tony Galaska, and sound designer Bonnie J. Monte. Kathy Snyder serves as production stage manager.
