Fall is here! And even as our days are getting shorter it is still important to rise and shine. Fall is one of the best seasons for fashion and beauty. Who doesn’t love great jackets, sweater dresses, and booties! The same goes for makeup — fall is a perfect time for rich browns, copper, and shimmery gold toned makeup to warm up any complexion. But it all falls flat unless you have glowing dewey skin to match. Get your fabulous and flawless look down pat without wasting a second. Follow the tips below for a fool-proof daily routine of getting ready to embrace each and every single day of fall.
Prep Your Hair
Giovanni Hair Care is a fabulous company. From the beginning they have been Eco-concious and environmentally friendly. They put our a beautiful product that actually works – honest! Their latest endeavor is dual complex products and their rose petal and cherry blossom addition is incredible. Hair is soft and supple, super easy to style. Available online, at most natural food stores, and even at TJ Maxx.
The best way to prep skin in the morning is to use a gentle daily exfoliant. Outdated are the harsh exfoliants that damage skin and strip it of protective oils. Instead of using harsh plastic microbeads that harm the environment, Chella Beauty infused their Exfoliating Cleanser Microbead Purifier with gentle, natural Jojoba beads. And for super oily skin this cleanser has time-released salicylic acid to fight excess bacteria. Formulated for challenging skin, the Chella Exfoliating Cleanser Micro Bead Purifier is a perfect addition to your fall skincare routine. Available on chella.com for $35.
Moisturize All Over
Get a good moisturizer for all over on your face! I am in love with Burt’s Bees Renewal Firming Day Lotion ($20). This lightweight moisturizer is amazing — it is 98% natural and contains SPF 30. My skin loves it — and I can feel and see the difference instantly. Really! I highly recommend trying this daily lotion, yet another stellar product in their fabulous line.
Reaccess & Lift
After you have your all over moisturizer on, it is best to take a minute, let the lotion sink in and the reaccess your skin. Sometimes you may need additional moisture on dry spots and sometimes you may need something a little more structured. STRUCTURISTE by Phytomer is a rich cream that is incredibly unique. At it’s core, it forms an instantly-tensing veil on the skin which is perfect for when one is feeling like less than their perky selves! This cream shows an instant and immediate lifting / awakened affect on skin, and after 1 month of use can even reshape, firm and restructure the face. Powerful stuff! As a twenty year-old daily use is not necessary, but it is a great addition to an anti-aging toolbox that can help tackle problem areas as they emerge. Available ($143) at www.lespausa.com
Moisturize Your Under Eye
The most delecte part of your skin that is suseptable to drying out in the winter is the under eye. As for me, I say “No Thanks” to crow’s feet and fine lines by using Vbeaute’s Eye Lube ($43). What I like about this product is that it is not claiming to tighten, but rather to hydrate and enhance your undereye. At my age (29) I don’t need tight skin — its at its most elastic and supple — I just need to ensure that it is plump and moisturized. The secret weapon? Vbeaute’s Eye Lub is made up of bio-available workhorses including CellIntegrity, CellPulse and Persian Silk Tree Extract which work together as plant stem cells and strong antioxidants to reduce and prevent inflammation, sooth skin and help increase and optimize the skin’s own collagen levels. This does just the trick! Conceal with Cream
Now that your glow of summer has faded, like me you skin may be getting a little more translucent. This means you may be better able to see blue veins, blemishes, or red marks. This is where a good cream concealer comes into play. It can be applied with a small blunt brush, but goes on smoothly and is perfect for pinpointed trouble areas of one’s skin. A favorite brand of mine right now is bareMinerals’ and their Correcting Concealer ($20) which is a good multipurpose concealer. But if you feel you may something to give a little bit more brightness to your eyes try Well Rested Eye Brightener Powder ($19). It’s best to choose your shade at a time where you have clean skin without any sort of natural tan or self tanner use.
Blend it with powder
I find that a good overall powder is a great light-weight way to seal it all in, set your look, and feel confidence that it will create a lasting flawless look. A powder that I really like right now is bareMinerals Original Foundation with SPF 15 ($28). Not only does it have built in SPF, but it goes on flawless. So well, that sometimes a concealer isn’t even necessary!
Soften and countour with bronzer
The biggest mistake that most people make it to apply it all over their face. All over application will make your face look dark and a bit dirty. The real aim is to apply bronzer to key areas of your face (neck, under your blush line, and on your hairline) that will help contour and bring a lightness to your face. Think of it this way, glowing from the center of your face, and darkening on the edges to add softness. A great moisturizing option is Josie Maran Argan Hydrating Liquid Powder Bronzer ($42). Its made with argan oil and coconut water so that it benefits your skin naturally while perfecting the look you want. It also comes with a two-in-one brush features an angled side to contour and a full side to buff and blend this lightweight bronzer into the skin. Perfect for contour novices, ensuring that it blends flawlessly every time.
Create a perfect natural blush
Now that your look is almost done, the finishing touch is adding a little blush to give you a subtle glow. Now that we are in fall, toss out the darker shades and opt for something with pinky and peachy tones. A great company to try is Paul & Joe cheek color ($18) with two shades so that you can create a perfectly blended look.
Line your eyes to give them definition
There is still no better liquid liner than NYC Color Big Bold & Precise ($3.99) available at most drugstores. When you open it up, it resembles a likeness to a black highlighter which may scare even the most experienced eyeliner wearers. There is a bit of a learning curve, so make sure you test it out a few times. It acts almost similar to a calligraphy pen in the way it can be swiped to make both a thick line or a precise narrow tip of a cat eye.
Finish the look with a smokey eye
Now for the eyes — all you really need is any golden eye pallate combing some sort of brown, neutral and golden color. The skin craves a gold touch to warm it up in the winter, and this should do just the trick. Today, many brands make a trio of colors that all compliment each other. They even tell you which color should be the base, the crease and the lid making it much simpler to achieve this look.
There you have it folks, you are now ready to take on the day. You are not overly done up, but just the right combo to take this look from day to night on a perfect fall day.
