Franklin Park Conservatory in Columbus, Ohio is offering a wide variety of holiday sights, sounds and activities for the whole family to enjoy at their annual Merry & Bright celebration that is running from November 21- January 3, 2016. And it’s only a 2 hour drive from Cleveland.
Thousands of twinkling lights and holiday decor and displays both outside and inside await visitors to Merry & Bright. Seasonal foliage spotlighted at the celebration includes hundreds of poinsettias, a poinsettia tree and over 60 evergreen trees. Visitors will also be able to see the 9th annual Gingerbread display and the Paul Busse Model Garden Railway. Live entertainment will be offered throughout the Merry & Bright festivities. Performers include Columbus area choirs, ensembles and choruses (including the Columbus Chorus on December 19 at 7 p.m.).
Merry & Bright also features a special dining experience. On Saturdays, December 5 and December 12 there will be a Breakfast With Santa from 8:30 a.m. – 10 a.m. that includes your meal and a meet-and-greet photo opportunity with Santa. Cost is $30 for adults and $15 for children (3-10). Children under 3 are free.
And don’t miss Mrs. Claus’ Kitchen on Saturday, December 19 and Sunday, December 20 where visitors will get to help decorate cookies and meet two live reindeer. This activity is free with regular admission.
Other activities include hands-on animal encounters at the Honey Hill Farms petting zoo on December 21 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. where visitors can meet exotic animals like chinchillas and a small kangaroo and The Arctic Express Magic Show on December 22 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Family Fun craft activities at Merry & Bright include making a paper holiday poinsettia (November 21), making a gingerbread man out of foam, fabric and buttons (November 28) and making a gingerbread house with graham crackers, frosting and candy ($3 per house) on November 27.
Regular hours for the Franklin Park Conservatory are 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. There will be extended hours until 9 p.m. on November 25, 27-29, December 2, 9, 16, 18-23, 26-28 and January 1 & 2. Admission is $13 for adults, $10 for seniors and $6 for children (3-17). Parking is free.
